Location: The Lone Star State | If you are not running in AQHA then your start time will be about 2 hours AFTER the posted time. I called on this yesterday to confirm and I almost got caught by this last year. THey run all the AQHA first approx 100 runners then start with #1. THis is not a good way to do this IMO because I know lot of people wont pay attention and just see the race start times. |

Location: Oklahoma | They have always done it this way, as well as the Tri-K with AQHA. They can't pay the AQHA jusdges to sit through all the barrel race. That is why the AQHA is all run together and first. :) I personally like it, especially if I am trying to get somewhere else. :) |

What exactly is there to "judge" in a barrel race? Do they judge how calm your horse comes in the gate, like they do horses in the box for roping.. do they judge technique on turning, like they do for roping (stopping, facing, etc.)? Just curious. |

| AQHA barrels are only timed. It is my understanding the judges are there so AQHA rules governing equipment, treatment of horse and whatnot are followed. |

I was pretty sure they were just timed.. that is why I was uncertain as to why the judges were there. Wasn't even thinking about the equipment and treatment side. |

Can sure understand why they need to run in a group at the start of the class, but I wish the draw was posted differently. |

the judge also will record the official time of each run, verify the results, and can disqualify contestants. |

Location: Oklahoma | Thank you for pointing this out. I only entered Sunday's race and was going to drive down on that day. If I counted correctly it looks like there are 147 AQHA entries on Sunday. That means it will be 3 hours later that day. Wow! |

Location: Oklahoma | Thanks for posting this.... I would have totally been off!
What does the AQHA/* mean on Wednesday open 60-65 slots? It's the same on Thursday' 76-80, Friday 101-105, Sunday 129-135.
What do the (C) spots mean at the very end of Friday & Sunday open draw? Are those c/o times? They look like futurity horses.
One final question.... What order does AQHA run their classes in? I have all 6546216516546540 pages of the draw printed out and want to get them in order so I can keep better track! |

AQHA probably has bit restrictions as well as "no whipping forward of the cinch" type rules, if I were guessing? |

Location: on a horse | Let me see if I understand this - I know the AQHA run first - so if for ex they have 148? AQHA - then 149 continues on with the race? OR is there AQHA 148 - then the draw starts with #1?
I am # 224, am I? or am I 224 + 148?

I am confused also........the tri k does a fabulous time, but it almost would ahve been better for most if there would have been different start tiimes for AQHA and then the open.......At least we coulda judged time a lil easier... now im gonna have really sit down and study this, lol..............

| I am draw 143 on Friday. So I figured I would run somewhere around 5:30 just an estimate. I am riding a 4 year old and don't want to wear her out before I run her. =) I am hoping she doesn't get stage fright!

Location: The Lone Star State | Well my sincere apologies, I called back again and was told a lot of people were confused by this. the numbers are concurrent. I think it would have helped if they would show aqha out beside the draw. |
