Location: Ainsworth, NE | I have the opportunity to purchase a daughter of Mr. Jess Perry out of a daughter of Merridoc. I am wondering what barrel people are thinking of Mr. Jess Perry bloodlines? I know there aren't many out there but is that because Mr. Jess Perry stud fee is so high which makes most of his offspring expensive? or is it because there is an issue with them in regards to barrel training? If I buy her I would offer some embryos for sale from her to help with her cost (but cheap embryo cost so people would do it!)....

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | I think anyone and their brother would like a daughter of Mr Jess Perry. But the ones that are cheap enough to afford probably have something wrong. I haven't come across one yet under $10k that doesn't have breeding issues. I'm sure they are out there, but I haven't found one. There is one that has been for sale for quite some time but every year she is claimed "open" for a new reason. I don't even bother to call on those |

Location: MI | I don't have hands-on experience with one, but having a Mr. Jess Perry horse is one of my dreams.
I went to Road to the Horse last year and a Mr. Jess Perry horse won the initial trainer competition. That was a sweet horse, built awesome and moved so easy. |

Luckily, I know the lady who has her and I have been around the mare as well! She had a foal last year and this year the owner decided to not breed her to instead get a couple embryos (which were successful). So, she is definately breeding sound! and I have dealt with her (not ridden her of course, but lead her, caught her, ect) and she is very good natured! This is a freak deal where the owner is looking to buy a super expensive amazing horse and needs to come up with a little extra cash and since she knows I like that mare, she offered me a deal if she too could get another embryo next year. So, from that stand point, I am lucky!

I would do it, Sonya....Merridocs are known for making great barrel horses and there's been some futurity winners out of Mr. Jess Perry mares....just can't remember their names off the top of my head. There's not too many of them out there because, as you said, they're expensive and most of them run on the track, where's there's more money in the market, but I think it will trickle down into the barrel world eventually. Just need one big name trainer to win on one of them and you're on the fast track. I sure like the breeding of Mr. Jess Perry. |

| I have a gelding that is out of a daughter of MR. JESS and I love him. He is wonderful to work with and never quits. Mine is 3 this year and is 15.3 so they get BIG. But I love their minds and I have hauled him and nothing bothers him at all.

| I think she would make a great barrel producer. Look at Jess Gonna Be Famous. Combine Streakin Six and Three Ohs, that sounds like barrel racing heaven to me. |

Location: Missouri | My friend had a son (Mr Jess Charger). She bred some mares to him and had one or two of his offspring running. She had me sold when she said they were "born broke", people lovers, willing, and eager to please. I bred my mare to him and have a weanling filly. Her personality is EXACTLY like my friend said she'd be! She is the sweetest little filly ever! I hope she turns out to be a nice barrel horse!

Location: Deep South | I would absolutely do it. I really like seeing MJP on the bottom side of colts, so having an own daughter would be ideal.
There's a guy right down the road from me with a stud by him, he raised quite a few horses out that stud. They were all so quiet and started very easily, and more speed than you would ever need for barrels. Lol! The only negative about that particular stud was that he threw very large babies, bigger than most barrel racers cared to mess with. |

Location: You never know where I will show up...... | We have a daughter of MJP out of a Marthas Six Moons mare. We have bred her to both of our stallions and her babies look amazing every year. Her oldest one from either of our studs is 3 this year and he's really good minded. He's not in futurity hands, but I am sure that he'd have been a really nice one if the lady was into doing futurities. Our MJP mare's are the first foals to sell every year and usually are among our highest sellers every year. |

I have also bred to MJP son Red Storm Cat and the weanling I have has the best mind and is so easy to work with. I would go for it! |

| I have a five year old grandson of MJP I want to start on the barrels just haven't had time. Hopefully I will have some time in the near future. I'm picking him up from the trainers today.

Location: Utah | I have a granddaughter (daughter of Feature Mr Jess) and I have mixed feelings. She is super smart, talented and a fun mare to ride. However she has her own special issues. She has a super soft mouth & body slow but it goes to opposite extreme the minute speed is added. She has been very slow to mature. I'm not sure if it is due to her or the injury she had. I will say she is a pleaser, always happy to go do something and meets you at the gate, and was easy to train. I see the potential in her and will continue with her, but there are days she makes me want to pull out my hair, lol! |

Location: Heart of Texas | I have a granddaughter of MJP and First Down Dash. I LOVE her. She has an 88 SI and won about 4500 on the track. I started her on barrels this year and she's coming along great. She's super laid back, tons of personality, smart, doesn't spook. She is VERY marish but my hubby says she's me in horse form so we get along great lol. She loves to run. Naturally works off her hind end. I've been exhibitioning her but my goal is to start entering her January. So far we're on track. But I love the blood line. You can mix it with other lines and get great crosses. I would jump on the opportunity if I was you. |
