Who here does cross fit to keep in shape? I just recently joined, I've been doing it a little over a month now and love it. I haven't lost any significant weight yet but I'm toning and feel so muxh better lately. I feel like it will help my riding too. It's a bit intense but I don't get as sore anymore! Anyone have any luck with it? Or "unluck" ?

I tried Crossfit and it was ok. I didn't lose the weight I was looking to lose. I feel like I needed to do more cardio to melt the fat instead of just lifting and doing sit ups. Now I run up and down the mountain everyday and I feel like that has worked the best.

How many days a week did you go? We incorporate A lot of running yesterday we did eight 200 m sprints, we run at least 400 m to a mile every day. I think the point of doing the listing is to build muscle which burns more fat. I really enjoy it because it something different I've been on a plateau for a while and I'm starting to see results already, realistically I can only go 2 to 3 times a week the other day as I ride and I'll get on the treadmill at home.

I go to a cross fit like gym.  I like their workouts better then the brand Cross Fit gym I was going to.  My gym has two workout options per 50 minute session - weights and cardio.    The cardio consists of lots interval of body wieght exercises and they'll add in some lifting like kettle bell swings or jump squats with weight.  If I'm feeling really good and have the time, I stay the first hour and do cardio and the second hour and do weights.  When I was going to Cross Fit, I got sick of power lifting everyday and actaully gained 7 lbs!

But in my opinion any excersise is good!  I find these types of gyms with group workouts a blast and motivating to show up everyday!  I work full time and have a demanding corporate job so sometimes its hard to find time to go to the gym and ride the horses, but somehow I make it work.  I don't have kids though - I have no idea how you moms do it sometimes!

I've been doing 5 - 6x per week crossfit for nearly 14 months.  I LOVE LOVE it.  No two workouts are the same and I am stronger than i've ever been in my life.  I think it has benefited my riding because I know if I was to come off - I would bounce right back up. My balance and core strength is pretty stellar now too. :) We do things that the average person does not/won't / can't do and it feels really awesome to be one of the people who can!!  Like handstand pushups, wall walks, 100 burpees in a row, pullups, BIG box jumps...not many people can say they can do those things!!
My resting heart rate is under 50 and that is 100% because of my daily crossfit workout.  Crossfit and the whole crossfit community is amazing.   Crossfit also changes the "i want to be skinny" mentality.  It is about being strong.

I am the same way, I'm a corporate manager at a hair salon (crazy hours) 2 horses to exercise and clean stalls (I often pay the kids to clean my stalls lol) and I play APA pool league, and sometimes softball BUT I make myself go to Crossfit! I feel so much better, I have not lost weight but I feel souch better and look more toned, legs and arms!!!

And 100 burpees.... f that lol!!!! But yah it makes you stronger for sure and it's all cardio whether you're lifting weights or not your heart is still pimping hard so you're still burning!

Oh I know. F that is right. But you CAN do it if you wanted to.  That's awesome because most people can't.

We have a lot of older people that participate they just don't do more then they can handle and the instructors don't push them :)
