Location: Kansas | I ran into pictures of this poor filly last night on facebook.... it is believed that she was attacked by someone with an ax or a large blade of some sort.... I just can't believe anyone could do this to an animal, let alone a baby :(
The page that follows her progress is "Justice for Hottie"

| I saw these pictures. I can't imagine someone doing that to an animal much less a baby. I hope they find out who did it, and hang them by their toenails! |

The article I saw said the weapon had to be some sort of straight blade like an axe or sling blade.... people are so sickening. |

Her optical nerve was severed so she lost her eye, her jaw was pretty much cut in half, and her jaw joint was broken so her mouth is wired shut. The FB page says she was at the vet for two weeks fighting a fever/infection. |

In the comments on the page, the owner's friend said the sherriff's dept won't even make a report over it!! |

| That was done by something dangerous on the farm that it ran into, not a person. IMO |

The vet team at Auburn decided that it had to have been done by a blade of some sort because of how clean the cut was |

Well, you know what, I wasn't there, so it might have happened like that, there are definitly sharp and weird-shaped objects on a farm... If so... hopefully the owner will move these things to a safer place so it won't happen again. But I stick with the SSS if this was done by a person.

| If someone done that im all for killing them...Its just fishy to me how it has multiple wounds all on the same side in a distinct pattern of sorts. I still say it ran into something... |

| I have to say I kind of thought maybe this poor baby did this to herself...A. I can't believe there are people in this world sick enough to do something like that and B. those additional scrapes/cuts down her neck/side. I could see her getting hung up in something and TOTALLY FREAKING out and ending up doing that to her face. It seems unlikely but so does some machete weilding person attacking a foal. IDK what to think!! I am glad she's getting such great care and hope she has a long happy life here on out! |

I thought the same. I have seen a lot of photos lately on FB of suspected animal torture. I have seen enough freak accidents not human related that as soon as you think something isn't possible then it happens. It just seems that a lot of people are jumping to conclusions of animal torture or theft instead of looking around at what could have been responsible for an accident or where a horse could have wandered off to.
If this was a result of a person, I hope they are found and appropriately hung. |

I obviously don't know exactly what happened, and her running into something definitely could have happened, but in the comments on the FB page someone said something similar to a gelding near there that didn't make it. |
