| If you have less than 10 competition runs on a 5 yr old and clocking in mid to bottom 3d against pro girls on their circuit horses.....would you be happy? I'm just wondering if this horse has what it takes or not? |

| I would be very happy. Some never hit near the 3D against that type of horse. |

I wouldn't necessarily be UNhappy if a horse wasn't already doing that well, if I could tell the horse had more and it was just going to take time. |

If the horse is losing his hip a little in the turn or drifting a little or something like that, I wouldn't ignore something like that in favor of fast at this early stage. I want a good foundation first. |

| Well we are still just high loping to first but gaining a bit of sped throughout pattern.....she is really only just running hard home.....so just curious if she continued to progress like this if she could really be "the one"

Location: Gainesville, TX | It completely depends on her mind and form through the pattern. A video of your run would help a lot for people to tell you how good it was. If she's just fast but all over the place, dropping shoulders, etc., that may mean a lot of dropped barrels in your future if you push too fast without letting her creep up but stay solid with her pattern. Depends on the horse and your training.
Could be good or bad. Push too hard too fast too many mistakes and mind blown, bad. Just a natural and enjoying it with good form and good mind, good. |

| I'd poop myself - but then on the other hand, I'd be cautious not to blow him/her up. Most definately make sure it is correct before adding more speed. Congrats! |

I am in the same position. The mare Im running has about 60 days on the pattern and about 6 exhibitions. I entered her and she was 1.3 seconds off the leader, so middle of the 3D.
I was thrilled but wondered where she would end up too. Congrats on yours!! |

Sounds to me like you were being a jerk.

Location: Texas | Sounds like it will be a nice horse. Does this mean she'll be anything more than a solid 2D horse against average competition? No. Only the rider and some with the special eye can tell if the horse has what it takes(speaking NFR terms). And even then you won't know until you start hitting the pro rodeo's. |

| If it's a good minded, athletic horse that has been properly prepared before entering....it should be expected. One of the best horses I've ever owned, bought as a yearling and trained by me clocked middle of the 3D at a 100 plus entry barrel race his first-ever competition run and just got better and better finishing out as a solid 1D horse. This is not out of the norm but more what should be expected. When they don't clock 3D times to begin with often it's because they weren't actually ready to be entered to begin with.
