Location: Arkansas | give you more rate and flexion when traveling full speed to the first barrel. My 2nd and 3rd barrels are perfect, but because of the speed coming to the first when i put a correction bit on her that will help me get her rated down it doesn't have the flexion i need for the first. She stiffens up.....???? |

Location: Somewhere around here | What is she doing at the first barrel? Not rating, rating too much, coming in good but blows off the backside? Hahaha sorry but I think it would helps us a little if we knew what she did...or in other words, what she isn't doing. |

Location: Arkansas | She runs really hard to the first, i start saying whoa, whoa, whoa about the timer line and pick up my reins and start applying pressure, the closer we get to the barrel i can tell she isn't slowing enough so i pull harder with both hands which causes her to stiffen up, i drop my outside hand and ask for the turn and sometimes she goes a horse length by and sometimes she turns but has too much speed and comes out to wide, just not getting that "set" and turn. The correction bit i use to get the set takes away from the flexion. The jr. cowhorse with the 3 piece dogbone & a very tight curb chain just doesn't get the "set". I've done a ton of slow work this week walking, trotting, the barrels and makeing her stop and back up twice on the way to the first barrel. The first barrel is costing us running in the 1D, she is a consistent 2D horse even at the big 700 rider shows & has run in the 1D at the big shows a few times. So frustrating......

Location: Buffalo, Wyoming | I have a mare I started using this bit on about 2 years ago. When I bought her they had her in way to much but. I was able to ride her in anything around the house and thought I would try a simplicity. She worked good in it at home but I had nothing when I went to run. This mare is solid and seasoned but I felt like I needed just a little more. I bought the Dr. Bristol and started running her in it and never looked back. It gave me that little extra I needed on the first to rate her back. |

Thank you, that's a BIG help. I ride her in the jr. cowhorse with the same 3 piece dogbone mouthpiece at home, but it's not enough at a run. |

I use the Simplicity Bit smooth mouth piece on my barrel horse, if your horse responds well an is light mouthed I think this bit would work great! I also do all my slow work at home with a jr cow horse bit an run in the simplicity |
