Location: the high desert | lets say you had a mare that had old race/foundation breeding and you wanted to breed for more of a "all-around" prospect (barrels being the main "job", but also wanting to do other events as well) would you go with a race/barrel bred stud or would you look at "other" breeding as well, such as foundation or a race/foundation cross or cow bred or other? |

Location: MI | I would look at Dinero. He's pretty doggone versatile...definitely depends on what you want to spend and how competitive you want to be at the 'main' job. |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | Well this summer I am going to shoot for an AQHA All Around on a friend's FG stallion. He's a full brother to Sky High Guy and also in Future Fortunes as of 2015. He has sired some really nice looking babies from all types of mares-Smart Chic Olena, foundation, Tuf N Busy, race bred. He's a really nice barrel horse already, but I'm going to play around with him and see how he does in Hunter Under Saddle, Reining, Showmanship, Ranch horse pleasure and a whole mess of other classes. I would try roping too, but I just can't haul to an arena often enough to practice roping to be competitive enough.
He has a great mind for it, already has a halter point. I don't have anything to compete on next year so this may be a heck of a deal for both of us |

Me too on Easy Jet - would take a pasture full of them. My daughter's horse is Easy Jet/Dry Doc and one wicked fast big old boy. He's 16hh but can drop and turn like a cutter. Will work a calf like no other and holy smokes is he fast. Big big motor. He is incredible - ranch work horse/ roping horse turned into her roping/rodeo/queen horse. She even showed him in ranch horse shows - working cattle classes, ranch reining, horsemanship, you name it..does it all. |

Location: Washington. (The DRY side.) | I would go with a performance bred horse. BUT, the VAST majority of them are shorter than you like. I would look at Im a Tuff Bueno and PG Dryfire. |

Location: the high desert | Dinero is to much dinero. I really like guys piece of the pie but my mare is a buckskin and I don't want a chance at getting a cremello or perlino. Lol racingQH, I have actually decided I could live with one that ended up being under 16 hands as long as they were as wide as they were tall...and a minimum of 15.2 hands lol. Pg dry fire and ima tuff bueno are handsome handsome.

| I'm not in the breeding business but I have a Mighty Mind Bender and she has all-around written ALL over her. She has plenty of speed, tons of natural rate, is built thick and solid and has the best mind you could ever ask for. I just bought a yearling out of Bender because I liked my mare so much. |

Location: Desert Land | It would depends on the exact bloodlines of the mare. I would choose something to compliment her breeding, build, mind. Race bred horses make all around horses, too. Race bred horses can make ranch horses, rope horses, etc. My Judge Cash daughter ran at the track, was then ranched on, the ran barrels and now packs my butt around trail riding. |

Location: Oklahoma | I'm a HUGE fan of the Sun Frost/Driftwood bred horses. Talk about all around. Look at progams like the Cowans. You have horses that compete in multiple events, yet are quiet enough for kids to ride. Cross that on an "old bloodline" of speed, and you've got a great using horse in my opinion. |

Location: Carpenter, WY | I'd probably go with a mix of the same race blood/foundation if you're looking for a all around prospect. You want something that will stand up and have a decent brain in its head that mix will give you. We have 5 weanlings though, that are by Slim who is totally speed bred, out of both race and cow or foundation mares and they are probably the nicest set of babies we've ever had and have the speed, size and athletism to do about anything. When you shop for a stud I really like to look around at as many of its offspring it has produced and see if there is anything consistent it is throwing on them. A good stud will definitely stamp its babies IMO. Kind of lessens the cr ap shoot you always take when breeding. |
