Location: Cocoa, Florida | I have heard a lot of ugly things about the Ford 6.0s, I found a really good deal on a 2006 6.0 diesel with 70k miles on it, someone said to check the heads to see if they have been replaced?
Anyone haul with this truck and had problems? Or no problems? |

| I had an 08 and had it towed three times within a year and had maybe 100k miles on it. Everytime it was some sort of sensor. I loved the truck just didn't love the problems. The last time it broke down I was 30 min out of vegas on way to nfr. Not a good way to start the week. |

Location: Oregon | I'm a ford girl through and through but I would steer clear of that engine. My stepdad had one and it started smoking real bad when you would step on it. He took it in and had it looked at and it wasn't until he went to a more honest dealer that told him that there is a faulty part on those trucks (I think it had to do with the cooling system) long story short, once it breaks they'll replace it with the same faulty part and it costs like $5k and it could last 10k miles or 50kmiles. you just don't know. By the time he figured it out, the truck was 14 days out of waranty..... he got SKREWED. He's now sporting a 2011 6.7 and I'll be buying a 7.3 when I save enough. |

| My dad has one that is a 2005 he bought brand new off the lot. Biggest piece of junk. Never will have another one. He found a 6.0 survival kit and replaced a bunch of stuff on it and while it has been better still has issues. |

| Injectors are bad in those engines, my cousin had to replace all but one injector within a year. My neighbour has two 06 fords there is always one truck broken down, he has also replaced all injectors then some on both trucks. |

Location: Where the pavement ends and the West begins Utah | You will need an EGR Delete kit, and sensor. Replace the air filter with one of those fancy ones. After a hundred thousand miles your universal joints will need to be replaced. All the rest is pure maintainance, |

Location: Montana | Generally on the Ford 6.0 diesels, it is the injectors that go bad, and from what I understand they go bad between 120,000 miles and 140,000 miles. Maybe they had problems with the heads too, but that is not what I've heard. Unfortunately, injectors in a diesel is no cheap fix...our friend has a Duramax, and injectors cost about $4000 for it, I would imagine Ford's cost range to be similar. If it were me, I would try to find a Dodge Cummins (older 12 valve if you can, but that is extremely difficult), or an older 7.3 diesel Ford, or a newer 6.7 diesel Ford (the 6.4 diesel Fords had their fair share of problems too). Good luck! |

Location: lone star state | Ford won a lawsuit against the engine maker of the 6.0 trucks but refuse to pass along to their consumers. There is pending class action suits against ford at this time. I had 2 of these trucks and will never own another Ford product. Of course my issues with motor didn't arise until warranty expired. I finally gave them away to get something dependable and less costly. |

Location: Cocoa, Florida | Okay so what is the best older between 07-2012 1 ton truck? I have a chevy 1500 at 100k now never ever (knock on wood) had any problems and it hauls my 3200 lb steel stock trailer with 2-3 horses great. But eventually I would like a gooseneck to sleep in at the big shows which I frequent often |

Location: Tulsa, Ok | Having owned and disposed of that engine in a 450 within the last 9 months I would say heck no. FIrst thing that went out was a high pressure oil pump which cost $3000. When that puppy goes you are dead on the spot where ever it happens. Not pretty in the middle of the road!!!. Nex thing was 2 injectors that left us unable to get home with our rig and 4 horses when it was 5 degrees. When the injectors were replaced I drove out of the diesel shop and directly to a dealership to trade it off. |

6.7 diesel Fords are so far proving themselves to be a very good truck. I personally really like Dodge Cummins, but I hear the new ones aren't as good as the older ones. |

Location: NW Arkansas | We have a 2006 with low mileage...57,000 miles on it. So far we've replaced the turbo and it's in the shop right now, at this moment, because Friday on the way to Edmund, OK the transmission suffered "catastrophic failure" according to the mechanic who looked at it yesterday. We were pulling a trailer headed to pickup a new horse when it started making this horrid noise and loosing power. We limped into the McDonald's located into the middle of the Turner turnpike on the west side of Stroud OK. U.S. Rider had a truck there in 45 minutes to haul the sucker back to the dealership. If you buy one, you need U.S. Rider Equestrian. They haul your truck and your horse and trailer when you break down. So ummm NO! Don't buy one! We're contemplating trading this one off... it never breaks down close to home- always away from the house when were pulling a trailer. |

Location: BFE | Everyone I have heard about has had problems with the Ford 6.0, get a 12 or 24 valve cummins and you will be much happier I have the Ford 7.3 real dog if your pulling a trailer unless you put all the after market things on it. you can not beat the 5.9 for pulling and Gas mileage. mine 5.9 get 22mpg unload and around 16 with a living Qtr not a real large one. BUT!!! you have to keep your foot out of it. To get the mileage |

Location: Where the road leads me | Die hard ford gal here still haul with my 2000 7.3 which we bought back in 2003. We had a 6.0 and will never own another, biggest piece of crap to ever roll off the ford production line. We also had a 2008, 6.4 and it was a pretty decent hauling rig. Unfortunately, had to trade her in due to problems caused by the MotΓΆrhead we let work on it. Ended up firing my old 7.3 back up and haven't looked back since! :) |

Location: Online | Run. Run far away. Don't do it. Those who haven't had problems still have theirs. If you find one on a used lot, it has been a problem. Unless you have a diesel mechanic on call to fix every issue or have the extra money to bulletproof it, don't do it. There is a reason there are so many for sale. They never fixed the problems, in spite of what people will tell you.
There is a reason there was a class action lawsuit against Ford and the motor. |
