I have a new horse with very high withers and I haven't been able to find a saddle that fits him very well. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'll try to upload a picture of his back.
I've been looking at Bob Marshall's but I don't know much about them. My horse is just a trail horse so it doesn't necessarily need to be a barrel saddle, but that's what I prefer to ride in.

Here's the only picture I could find that shows his withers.

You can do a search on here as its posted often. My gelding has a high wither and he works great in a Debra Sibley flex tree. Extremely comfortable saddle for both horse & rider.

Okay I will do that. Thanks!

Everything I've been finding so far have been pretty expensive barrel saddles. Like I said - my horse is just a trail horse so I don't need a $2500 barrel saddle. I'd like to keep it around $1000. If anyone has any suggestions on where to start I'd greatly appreciate it. :)

Deb Sibleys do hold their value but a simple one you can find used for 1200-1300 sometimes.

Have you just tried a little thicker pad with the withers cut out? That's what I do with one of my mares because she has really high and long withers. I have a 1 inch pad that had the wither hole in it and I just extended it another couple inches. I have a lot of wither clearance now. The underside of the pommel almost touches her withers withought a pad.

I bought two 5/8" saddle pad liners and cut one to fit around his withers, and I used the other one to make shims to help fill in the dip behind his shoulders and add thickness where needed. I put a Classic Equine pad on top of that. My saddle just doesn't have enough clearance for his withers and doesn't fit the shape of his back. Without a saddle pad my saddle sits on his withers.

Pro Riders or A-1 Saddlery both work good on a high withered horse.
Jerry or Gerald Bethune.  Brothers.  Good saddles, good prices.

Contact Meleeta Brown - Freedom barrel saddles - you can send your pics and talk to her about saddle fitting. She has a lot of knowledge about fitting saddles.

I've found that Shiloh saddles (ed wright, cecil phillips, contenders) fit VERY well. Here's my high withered gelding.

Thank you! He's a good one. :) He's an off the track Standardbred.

And thank you for all of the suggestions. I will look into all of the saddles mentioned!
