Location: White Mountains of AZ | So I was informed about a weanling filly. She's a black/white paint, with Dash for Cash and Special Effort in her lines. I haven't seen pictures/papers yet, but I could get her anywhere from $800-1000. But...I've always been a bay fan. All my horses have been bay. Am I weird for questioning this filly because she's not bay? and...how many paints have there been in the NFR..? None that I've seen. IS there a reason for this? |

Location: At the race track with Ah Dee Ohs | Don't quote me, but I think there was a thread awhile back about a paint at the NFR. Solid paint, but a paint nontheless! If I could get my hands on a true black/white paint I would jump on it. |

| I doubt that the color is what is going to keep her from the NFR. |

Location: Gainesville, TX | Charmayne James ran Magic at the NFR I believe and he was full color. There have been a few outcrop paints running there I believe. |

| I think it was Kim West that made the NFR with a loud paint back in the 90's, maybe? I believe she made it more than once, but my memory is not that good. |

Location: White Mountains of AZ | Okay...I just didn't know if NFR had a certain rule about paints. I didn't think so, but since I hadn't seen one, wasn't sure. And I'm not saying that this filly is going to take me there, but, at least it wouldn't be a complete false dream with her color :)
Found it haha..

| Do you have her full pedigree. I think that and seeing her or at least a picture of her would be more helpfull. |

Location: White Mountains of AZ | I'm waiting on those still. Of course I wouldn't buy her without seeing her papers and pictures of her . But as soon as I get them, I'll post them up. |

Location: At the race track with Ah Dee Ohs | Meaning that she is truly black and not brown that "looks" black. Case in point, I had a Rare Form years ago that was registered brown. She looked black, but couldn't registered as such. If the pedigree is there and you like her, there wouldn't be anything stopping me from trying her. |

| Why is it relevant how many paints have made the NFR? That's like asking how many roan horses have made it. The chances of makng it are just slim, period. It just takes a really special horse and you don't really know that until you start taking them down the road. Over the last 20 years there has not really been a dominant side or set of lines. Yes some are more common, but it's really all over the place.
To answer the question though, Kim West made it on T-bar in the 90's as did Charmayne on Magic and Twila on Cuidell. |

| Who cares how many have made it to the NFR?
Most trainers do not prefer paints so they do not end up in good hands most of the time its as simple as that. It doesn't mean a paint can not shut the clock off or make a very nice 2 to 3 D horse. If you can get her for that cheap, she is built nice, has papers, and "speaks to you" well then buy. |

Location: White Mountains of AZ | The only reason I asked about the NFR is because I wasn't sure if there were certain rules pertaining to Paints there or the bigger rodeos. I'm still gonna wait and see pictures and breeding and pray on it. I've never owned a paint, but the people I know who have them are lunatic horses ha. So paints around here have gotten a "crazy horse" type deal about them. So we will see |
