| I have never had one. Since starting exercising and eating healthy, I don't ever get sick- one cold in 4 years that lasted less than 48 hours. I would not get a flu shot anyway though- not convinced of their effectiveness. I have friends who get them and still get sick every year. It may lessen the symptoms, IDK- I don't like the idea of introducing/putting things into my system unless absolutely necessary. |

Location: Washington. (The DRY side.) | I haven't had a flu shot since 1987. (And then it was because I was in the Army and we didn't have a choice.) But I also have a strong immune system. I haven't had so much as a cold for 9 years. (Even though I am around others that do get sick.) |

Location: Idaho | Im an RN in a clinic. I agree with the above posters. Im not sold on their effectiveness. People who live healthy lifestyles have a much easier time fending off illnesses. |

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | We don't do flu shots in our house. I've never seen them be very effective, many people have reactions to and illness following the shots, and IMO it couldn't be good to shoot that crap into your body year after year (the adjuvants and preservatives), especially if you have a system prone to autoimmune disease. I've had the flu a couple of times, last time was 98 or 99. My mom had the flu 2 years ago after getting the shot-- the strains didn't match up, she had type B and the shot was type A, if I remember correctly. It was her first flu shot and the first time she had caught the flu in decades. I was in her house every day when she was sick and none of us got it. |

| I will be the odd woman out. I am an RN and husband is a Pharmacist and we own a small town drug store. We encourage all of our employees to get their free flu shot because we have so many customers that come in sick. Over the last 32 years it never fails the employees who do not take the flu and pneumonia shot are out sick for days. Since we are a rural store our customers are on a first name basis and we have seen many elderly and or immune compromised customers become really ill require days or weeks of hospital treatment when they did not take the flu shot that year. I highly recommend it in your situation. |

Location: ND--it snows, it floods, it snows, it floods | I don't get a flu shot because I very rarely get sick. I see no need in my situation however my husband has gotten Type A flu twice so this year he got the shot. I do however believe there is a value to these vaccines and shots. I got the pneumonia shot back in 1999 and have since then very rarely gotten colds or sinus infections. The reason I got the pneumonia shot was because I was getting sinus infections every 6 weeks the the PA finally told me we had to try something different. She said she didn't know if it would work or not but it was worth a try. I'm a huge believer in it helping me. |

| I have severe allergies which I think lowers my immune system and makes me pic up colds and viruses easier......then when I do get sick, it lasts forever.maybe it's time to try it |

| My husband and I and all four kids get it every year. I can't remember the last time any of us got sick. At all. We eat healthy, exercise, wash hands, and keep up on all vaccines.
Part of getting vaccinated is to protect the immune compromised who share your community. |

You should be able to get both from what I understand but it may be age dependent too. |

I prefer to do that by staying my ass home when I'm sick. |

You just got to get mean and mean it.
Location: Arkansas | I can't remember the last time I had the flu. But, I've had a flu shot ever since it was offered. LOL I also get the pnuemonia shot ever since it has been offered.
I'm 82 and survived cancer. The doctor's say I'm pretty dang healthy. I intend to stay that way. LOL The last thing I want is the flu or pneumonia!
The pneumonia shot is good for 5 years, but the flu shot is every year. And you can get both at the same time.

Location: Montana | I've always been on the fence about flu shots too. I'd get them one year, and the next year not. But my dad gets extremely sick if he gets a cold or flu (he gets a flu shot every year, and got a pneumonia shot last year), so last year I got one because of that and I don't think I got sick but maybe once. So, I got a flu shot again this year. |

| I get a flu shot. I work with people who claim to be healthy but really aren't. They come to work sick and get us all sick. I might get a runny nose for a day when they show up sick. |

That's always good but immune compromised people (on radiation or chemo, or some auto immune disorders) can get extremely sick from you before you show symptoms or are even just a carrier. |
