Extreme Veteran Posts: 559	After endless saddle agony I'm biting the bullet and having my 2 gelding fitted. This whole saddle popping up in the back is costing me time and making my guys sore....and i really dony feel like playing Superwoman and be launched over their head or pulling up (again) to slow the momentum so i wont. I'm leaning towards Martin Saddlery right now but want opinions and advice based on yalls experience too. One is leaner built high withers broad back....and 1 is just.....a toad. Lol. THANKS!!!!

The Advice Guru Posts: 6419	I wouldn't want my horse custom fitted by a saddle company, I would want my horse fitted by a tree company, or a tree manufacturer. There is a guy in Alberta that makes trees custom to the horse and I believe the cost of the tree alone is 800-1200 then I would have to have the saddle built. I haven't justified spending 4k on a fairly plain saddle to only fit on horse. Atleast with the crown c saddles I can make them work for more then one horse and the saddle costs 2500 for plain, and 3500 for extravagant.

You get what you give Posts: 13030 Location: Texas	Larry Coats. They get custom trees made for your horse in addition to their trees in stock. I am very happy with my coats saddle. I'm happy with my Lazy L coats saddles too.

Am I really the Weirdo? Posts: 11181 Location: Kansas	I took my gray in and had him fitted at R Bar B in Topeka KS when he won a trophy saddle & our NBHA district was going to order through Russ. He put trees on Chance and made some notes of things to tweak when Chance's saddle was made. That saddle fits him perfectly and I would not hesitate to get another horse fitted by Russ & order a custom saddle from him again.

Martins cactus pozzi are all made on an assembly line and when u put a Reedy beside them they look like plastic cheap junk.....when u place a Reedy on a horse it literally fits like a glove and the seat will fit the rider like a glove as well.
