I had one that only rode in one. I got mine from an english tack place. NRS has some too. He was scary to ride one without, but I sold him and a guy bought him and won a bunch in HS stuff out here. I would suggest once you put that baby on don't jump on the horse lunge him first to see the reaction and don't adjust too tight. I have seen wrecks with those in the wrong hands.

Personal opinion alert - take it for just that.

I think tie downs are over used but sometimes necessary. I wouldn't use a bonnet. Too many nerves and sensitivity up there. If I couldn't fix it myself without one, I would send the horse to a trainer who could.

It is a great tool for a horse that needs it.  It will keep the head down but allows them to get their nose out.  Not for every horse but the ones I have used it on it worked great.  Suggested to a gal a couple weeks ago that was having difficulty with her horse getting elevated and hopping coming out of a barrel.  She got one, let the horse get used to it and made  the best run yesterday I have seen this mare make in over a year.  You could tell the horse was very comfortable with it.

I use a bonnet on my mare. Head down, but can get her nose out. I ordered mine from Dave and Patti Hall at All American Equipment. www.allamericanequipment.com or call them at (573)749-3314. They are great people to work with.

The people that had my gelding before me ran him in a bonnet, but I don't feel it neccessary so it's just sitting in my trailer just incase I think I need it someday.  I ordered it from L&W bits.

Have you ruled out any soreness issues? In the poll or neck?
