Location: where ever my L/Q trl is parked | so heartbreaking...but if she had the butt bar in place the horse probably would have stay. I know so many girls that won't use a butt bar because it's such a pain or they are in a hurry, but there is a reason for it and it does work. prayer for her lost |

If I have a horse in the rear slant I always hook my butt bar. I usually do it anyways just out of habit. |

| So sad! There was recently an incident in my area where a horse fell out and was drug down a gravel road. The wife was following behind the trailer in a separate vehicle and was desperately trying to get ahold of him with phone, lights, horn, etc and there was no way to get next to him. Horse had deep wounds on all fours and sides. Joint capsules were filled with gravel. Had multiple vets out and all said euth because of the open joints. Last I heard, they were still trying to save it against vet's recommendations. I grew up with a three barrier rule. Slant divider, door, ramp... Butt bar, door, rope tying doors... etc. Can never be to careful. This breaks my heart for the owner and horse.

Location: MN | Please don't be bashing the poor girl my saying what she should have done. It was in the middle of the night, she had he horse's best interest in mind by taking her out and walking her, we don't know what happened, the bar could have broke for all we know, making assumptions on a public board is NOT appropriate!! The original poster simply wanted to send prayers to Whitney not accuse her or assume what she did or didn't do, that said, many many PRAYERS Whitney, this could happen to any one of us!!!!! |

Prayers. |

| I definitely wasn't bashing her? I would never bash someone in that situation. It's one of my biggest fears and I was just staing what I've learned in case it helps someone else prevent a tragedy. |
