Has anybody got any experience with Dodge 1/2 tons vs the Ford 1/2 tons? I've always had F150s and love them, but am curious about the Dodges?

Dodge has come out with a half ton diesel.  Dodge states that it is supposed to get 29 mpg.  Haven't heard much about it other than TV commercials.

I have had my 1/2 Dodge Eco Diesel since August. I LOVE IT!! It gets between 27 - 30 MPG on the highway (75 MPH), and between 20-25 MPG in town. I put a ball in the bed and have pulled my 3 horse slant with it. It got an average of 22 MPG with the trailer going 70 down the highway. I can't say enough good things about it! I will never have a 1/2 gasoline again! It drives like a car!

We don't get the mileage with ours that minor red says but it is like driving a car. Pulling a trailer your looking at around 12, no trailer we get around 23*25. Now if we are driving to get there the mileage is compromised...We are pulling a 3 horse bumper pull 4 Star so it has some weight with the nose.Power not an issue as I have a 2010 Dodge 1 ton chipped with exhaust system.

Everything I've read about them they are getting 9 to 12 pulling.

Hmm. I don't want to pull with it, I just wouldn't feel safe hauling a trailer without my 1 ton doing the pulling. However, I put on 75,000 miles this year for work, and the extra fuel mileage sounds nifty. I didn't realize that Dodge had a diesel half ton...off to research!! Thanks friends.

I have a 2013 1500 RAM and I LOVE it.
I cant say that gas mileage is the best feature... I generally get 18 mpg highway and 9-12 pulling my 2 horse.

But this truck is awesome and has all the creature comforts you could imagine.

I bet the onboard lie meter is doing its thing to get 22 mpg loaded.

It's not the the mileage that the truck is telling us, it's the mileage that we are figuring the old fashion way. I've only pulled with it once and that's what it got, we only went 170 miles but it was great! It doesn't do that we'll in town only 20-25 as stated above. Even with the smaller fuel tank it is awesome! Ours is 4x4 and is still the best driving and riding small truck I've ever driven.

I also have a new Dodge 1500 as my daily driver, and as of right now, I have no complaints at all. It really is like driving a car, handles great and rides smooth. It gets way better gas mileage than compared to other half tons I've had in the past. I'm really enjoying mine

I have a friend that works for Chrysler and designed the 1500 with the diesel. He let us use his company truck to take horses to the trainer in Kentucky last winter. First off we had the TOP of the line truck.....fancy isn't giving it enough credit! It was a DREAM to drive!! We were told we would get great MPG too but ended up about 12 hauling a 2 horse BP. They actually took the truck back into the engineers at Chrysler to do a study as to why we didn't get more. Kind of cool story. I have always owned Ford trucks before but that truck really impressed me!
