Location: The Great Midwest | What supplements/pastes would you recommend for pre-performace jitters? My mare is great warming up but gets a little too nervous before heading into the arena. She has been completely checked out and all is ok, I think she just gets a little "Stage fright" and becomes a little ADD. What pastes do you recommend? I don't want anything that's going to knock her on her butt or take out her run, just help her focus. I know oxy-gen makes some, but I don't know what to try first.
Thank you! |

Girl, I have used them all! LOL. SmartCalmUltra from SmartPak is a good one. Animal Element's InTheZone paste is pretty good and takes effect faster than any others I've used. I have given Maalox to horses that are a little nervous but it won't help Clifford on its own. Oxygen's JailBreak Paste did nothing for Joker a couple years ago. (come to think about it, nothing ever had an affect on Joker. He either wants to go in and run that day or he doesn't) Quietex is my current favorite on Clifford. Some days I can give him a half a tube and other days I can just tell he needs the full dose. You could also try THE's Calming Cookies. I had them for Joker a couple years ago, however he is a picky eater and wouldn't touch them, but I've heard others have great results with them. |

Location: The Great Midwest | I will have to try some of those. I looked up in the zone, how long does a tube last? |

Location: Oklahoma | I've used Oxy-gen's Jailbreak and liked it. My gelding is not a hot head at all... he just gets really nervous when he sees other horses getting really hyped up in alleyway. I try to keep him away from all the commotion and he acts pretty good, but sometimes he just has to have a little something to help with the edge. |

Location: The Great Midwest | My mare is the same way. She is great and calm, until the horse before us comes running back through the alley.. then she thinks "Oh shoot! They are running away" LOL Then its "Mom I don't want to risk my life!" |

I think a tube is 4 doses so you get 4 runs out of one tube. RockinGR I know is an AE dealer on here, and I'm sure there are others. Can't remember who would be super close to you. Most of the others say a dose is the full tube, though I have used half tubes & 1/3 tubes etc. |

Location: Southeast Louisiana | I like THE Calming Cookies. One bag will last a while. I have a picky eater as well. He wouldn't eat the cookies at first, so I had to work at it a little. Now that he knows what they are, he gobbles them up with no problem |

Location: Moving soon..... | I have Bob at THE put the calming as strong as possible in my mixture that I get from him. This is the only thing that has worked for me. I have been using this for a while now. I also have some Lavender oil that I am also going to try. |

Location: Sunnyland Florida | 1. Quiet-X (liquid, not powder) 2. Animal Element's "In the Zone"
Quiet-X may take a little of the run out of them, while In The Zone will usually not take the run out; it just helps them focus.

Location: North Pole | I use Keep Cool by Silver Lining Herbs. My gelding was always SUPER reactive and fidgety and nervous, since going on the Keep Cool - it is like I have a brand new, THINKING NOT REACTING horse. |

Location: Louisiana | I noticed that our past 5 or 6 runs, T-Bo was getting worse in the alley. I was thinking, "Oh crap, he has some sort of issue going on!" Well, at the last rodeo I decided to test him LOL. We walked right up the alley and hung out for a few minutes during the roping slack, something I do not ever do. He was like, "Whatever Mom, I'm totally cool just hanging out and watching some steers." I focused on doing lots of deep breathing and he was way better that night, and it was a 2-day rodeo so he knew what to expect. I'm not saying this is the case with your horse, but I was considering giving my horse something, too. And it was me, not him who was getting nervous. And I'm not even scared nervous, more like adrenaline pumping ready to run LOL. |

Location: Piedmont, OK | In the Zone by Animal Element is an 80 cc tube for $20 and is great for pre-performance jitters. Generally a 20 cc dose an hour or 2 before a run is plenty. For a really nervous horse I will give them 20 cc before they go on the trailer and 20cc an hour before their run. It works great as long as it is just nerves. I have a lot of customers who love it and even take a little bit themselves to help with their own nerves. And it does not take any run away from them at all. It is not going to correct any behavior problems or ailments. I had a customer cuss me out in front of a bunch of people one time because she said it didn't work on her horse a few shows later the horse bled out and that is why he was refusing the gate IMO. |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | I sell a ton of THE Calming Cookies. They have recently changed the flavor and texture to help with the picky horses. They are 30 cookies in a bag, 30 doses. Some people feed them every day and some only feed them as needed. |

Location: texas | YOUNG LIVING ESSENTIAL OILS - u can buy off ebay if u don't want to purchase from a member....
Do the RAINDROP to ur horse....
Use PEACE & CALMING when u load up to leave the house, on URSELF and HORSE, u can apply again when u get to show before u get on....
Also if ur horse is BROKE enuff, try a hack.... a bit in my mares mouth just makes her a nervous wreck, then she just concentrates on chewing and jacking w bit instead of me.... So I ride in little s w rope noseband at home and run in a beetle....
Good Luck, I also added ULC-R-AID to her feed, its the only OTC ulcer supplement w all the calming minerals, my mare didn't have ulcers, but I felt it helped her absorption of valuable nutrients....
will try to post pic, it never lets me lol.....

Location: Texas | I have tried the cookies and lavendar to no avail. There is a fairly new product out called confidence eq. You put it around their nostrils 30 min before you saddle. You can get a free sample off their website to try. |
