Just to be sure ya'll understand... My new boobies are NOT something I'm proud of or willing to share with ANYONE!! Lucky I don't have a man in my life right now he'd be so dissappointed...
Took the bandages off the other day and have been crying pretty much ever since.. I'm trying to act like I don't care but DAMN...

I was told from the beginning that all the pain of taking skin off my back to rebuild my breasts would all be worth it... and my new titties would be better than what I had... NOT...  The tattoos of my nipples look like a 4 year old got a hold of the tattoo equipment... I may not have ever had PERKY boobs but I did have better than this.

When I saw the surgeon this week I told her what I thought and that she lied to me I also said maybe my expectations were too high.. These are not better than what I had. She tells me "We don't have the great tattoo equipment or color pallet that tattoo artists have. And I'm not a tatto artist."  OK well DUH I can see that... So here I wasted $500 in my insurance copay to have my nipples look like crap. Had she told me this before this procedure I would of taken that $500 dollars and bought an airline ticket to go see my nephew who is an ARTIST and does tattoos.  SO not happy...

WARNING to anyone going through breast reconstruction from breast cancer... DON'T get them done... NOT worth the pain or aggrevation. I wanted to just have them both removed from the get go, but due to insurance regulations they would not remove the breast without cancer in it without having the reconstruction done.

So now I'll try to figure out a way to get to NC so maybe my nephew can fix this crap. I know it would of been so much easier if he could of just done it from the start. But the surgeon told me they would be great when she was done she lied. I don't want to go to just any tattoo artist to fix them... I know how good of an artist my nephew is and I trust he keeps a safe work enviorment...  Just for extra information I don't do tattoos. I would never have paid to get a tattoo before in my life... I even told my boys no tattoos on your body until you no longer live in my house.. So Dustin my little soldier went and got his first tattoo, the breast cancer ribbon on his chest. Gotta love him.

If you are not happy and believe you are misled, I suggest reporting the surgeon to the college of physicians.

You can also contact a lawyer to advocate on your behalf to get the 500 back plus legal costs and extra for a tattoo artist to correct the crappy job.

The only words I have for you is sorry. :-( I couldn't imagine.

But maybe Cheryl is right. You should also file against the surgeon so she doesn't do this to someone else. I really can't stand arrogant surgeons.

I am so sorry it has been so bad.  I just had my "clean up" surgery from the mess the plastic surgeon did on me when I was in Houston.  And to think he charged almost $300,000 for the mess he made.

I would definitely not be happy if I were in your situation. I had a co-worker that had both removed and reconstruction done. Hers looked horrible at first. She complained and complained that they were not right. Come to find out the place that did hers forgot to order the size & shape implants she had decided on and didn't realize it until the day of her surgery. Instead of telling her the doctor (a well known and respected reconstruction surgeon in the state) decided to put some they did have in that were smaller. She had worn the pump to stretch her skin so now her skin was stretched bigger than the implants. She was supposed to get the teardrop shaped ones and instead she, in her words, "looked liked she had two little round biscuits on her chest". A nurse finally slipped and told her the mishap and she had to go thru the surgery all over again - with the correct implants. Hers look great now including her tattoos.

Bless your heart... Many prayers. After all you have been through this is totally inexcusable. I have a good feeling your nephew can fix it. I have also seen where women have opted to have a flower, butterfly, ect, put in place of their nipples. Something beautiful to symbolize that they made it through this horrible thing. Many prayers and hugs!

there are some artists that do amazing tatts on a variety of scars, malformations or reconstructions.....it can certainly become something stunningly beautiful.....

I am so sorry for what you are dealing with now after everything else. I would definitely look into what Cheryl mentioned. Keep your chin up. You are beautiful. You are strong. And you will persevere. Prayers being sent for you.

So sorry that doctor was so overselling of her abilities! I don't know why...but the fact that it is a WOMAN doctor makes it even worse. She should know how the quality of the work would be so critically important to a woman. I hope you can pursue this and get them altered to meet your expectations. My friend had BC and reconstruction...and in the end...she really is happy with "the new girls".

So sorry this happened to you.  I would definitely look into legal action to get enough money to have the tattoo redone.  I don't know why a doctor, let alone a woman doctor, would do this to their patients.

I have no advice... I just want to offer some prayers for you. I love the idea of having some artwork (that you like and can appreciate) done. Maybe you and your nephew can come up with something amazing. I've seen some pictures of really cool stuff on BC survivors.

I can't even begin to understand what you must be feeling, but this I do know... We are women, and as we get older one thing that we all come to understand is that beauty comes from within. You are a survivor, you are strong and confident and you will turn this too, into a victory. You go girl!!! And keep us posted on what you decide to do!

Well said.

Thank you all but as sorrel horse ranch understands, as I'm sure many of you others do too, it just really starts to get OLD..... If I wrote everything that has happened in the last 3 years I'd have a darn book... And on a good note I have a friend that is willing to drive me to NC.... Not sure I'll be able to handle sitting in a car that long... BUT she's a little older than I and will need as many stops as me...
