Location: Lost in the corn of Iowa. | This doesn't affect me because I stream my TV, and can't get sports...like the NFR. So, I just read in an article that this Thursday is the deadline for DISH and CBS to come to some sort of agreement or else CBS is being dropped from DISH. I'm not sure what the exact channel the NFR is going to be broadcast on but just in case this affects anyone I just wanted to share.

| My mom has had all kinds of trouble with DISH. They dropped several channels that she watches and she called to cancel service. Because she was a recent customer, they wanted to charge her over $800! She kept saying that they couldn't give her the service she signed up for. She even went all the way to the main office. They were so rude to her. Apparently they are in dispute with several channels. |

Location: In the Hills of Texas | I had Direct for over 20 years and when I needed a new DVR they wanted to charge me $200.00. I told them they give all the free stuff to customers that probably will end up not paying their bills and then they aren't going to upgrade a person that has paid their bills on time for 20 years? I called about 5 different times and spoke with 2 managers and nothing so I went with Dish. The day I called to disconnect my Direct TV the lady asked why and I told her and she said they would give me a new DVR. I told her to stick it. Dish isn't great but at least they give me a new DVR when I have problems with the old one. |

I've had DISH for about 20 years also. A few years ago we didn't have DVR yet, it was time for the NFR and I wanted it...NEEDED DVR! I called DISH and they wanted $200 + for it. I told them forget it, I wasn't paying that. I reminded them how long I'd been a customer. I wasn't on the phone very long and they said they'd have a guy come out and install my new DVR receiver. I gave them a sob story that the NFR started the next day and could they get it installed by then? The poor guy showed up the next day at about 7:30 at night because his schedule had already been booked but he had it installed and showed me how to use it before the rodeo started. I fed him and he went on his way. I can't say a bad thing about the company. |

we had the same thing only lighting hit near by and took our satelite out. They cheap rigged it so we only had a few channels or we could pay a couple hundred and get a new satelite. They of course weren't willing to deduct from our bill the channels we could no longer get. So we switched to Dish and they have been more than helpful on the phone when needed and when repairing equipment. They all suck and are over priced but I prefer Dish customer service over Direct. |

| This kind of stuff doesn't just happen with Dish. It happens with cable companies too. There is always some dispute. All these networks make so much money. I don't know why they are always at odds with cable and satellite companies. |

Location: Online | I just read an article saying it's unlikely that CBS Sports will be included in the blackout, it just said the main CBS network. The only thing I watch on it is Big Bang Theory. I would bet that they reach an agreement by then. CBS is too important for both companies. No one will win if they don't come to a deal.
What really ticks me off with these disputes is the networks raise their rates, Dish is just trying to keep our rates low. If these companies continue to want more money, it's us the consumers who pay the price. This latest dispute with Turner didn't hurt my feelings any since there isn't anything worth watching on those channels that were blacked out anyway. Cartoon Network is a not for kids anymore and CNN is...well...CNN.
If you want to be peeved at Dish for trying to keep our rates down, I guess that's up to you. I have been a Dish customer for nearly 20 years and I have never had an issue with them. They are always very easy to deal with. If my receiver quits working, they send me a new one, no questions asked. |

This is exactly what happened to us. My husband handles all of this since the tv is one of his "hobbies" and he has every sports package available. I was shocked when he was willing to give them up for DISH.
I will say everytime they drop channels, he calls them up and asks them, "I am now paying the same price for fewer channels, so what are you going to do about that?" They usually throw him a discount or credit of some kind to keep him happy... |

| We have had Dish for about 15 or so years and at one point, early on, DirecTV offered us a deal and it was too good to refuse. Ugh! I hated the way their channels were set up and displayed so we went back to Dish and they have been just fine for us. I agree with who ever said they all charge too much. THAT IS THE TRUTH but we are the dummies that pay. |

Location: Kansas | I have DirectTV but dropped Cinemax last week as they chose to dedicate one of my channels to Hispanics only. I explained to them I don't speak Hispanic and why should I pay for a channel that I can't understand. We've had DISH and DirectTV. They both leave a lot to be desired. |

Location: The edge of no where | I REALLY just want an option to have pay per view online to watch the NFR. They would make a small fortune off of it. I'd pay $10 a night to watch the whole thing live. We're supposed to go to the BFA Monday and it's going to be the first year since I was probably 20 that I haven't figured out a way to watch every single round. I'm really excited about the BFA, but so sad not to get to sit up every night and watch the NFR. If I could figure out a way to get it in my trailer....I'd be one happy camper!! |
