Location: The best kept secret in TX | To some it may seem silly to pray for what I'm about to ask your prayers for... But I really need Prayers for Mr. Lee (my gelding) tonight. The General has been dropping weight and appetite for about two days...I know it's ulcers. He won't eat pelleted ulcer meds. He spits out liquid medication and he refuses to drink water. He stands in a corner chews his gums and has spit running out of his mouth trying to sooth his own stomach. So far tonight I've shot 3 gatorades down his throat with a syringe trying to keep him hydrated and make him drink. I've dosed him with probiotics and ulcer aid and I've coated his stomach with pro cmc and stomach soother. Gave it a few hours and I just checked his feed. He's nibbling hay but no feed. I even set out non medicated beet pulp and pellets in hopes he would eat that instead of the medicated feed and he hasn't. I don't know what else to do. I have sat on my knees by him and cried in his stall long enough. I have prayed because that's all I know to do at this point. I don't want to have to feed him through a tube again twice a day just to keep him alive. I don't want to have to put him in a sling to keep him up. I just got weight back on him from a relapse a year ago. He's 7 years old for crying out loud and I haven't gotten to really show him at all because of his health. I need a miracle only God himself can perform! Please pray for my love!!!

Location: The best kept secret in TX | He's on pasture all day. 100 acres actually. I bring them up to feed them and then turn them out after they finish eating. He has the same routine every day. I haven't changed a thing. He is used to being in a stall to eat and then turned out.
Eta thank you for praying

Location: The best kept secret in TX | Β He's been on 707 digestive essentials for a long while now and it helped a TON with keeping them in check. Β I ran out a week ago and no one had any in stock of the smaller cheaper bucket I can afford. They only had the $135 one. I just got some in today. That's why I know it's gotta be ulcers... I had it shipped over night and it still took a week to get. I should've grabbed him something in the mean time but I honestly thought he would be fine...Β
Eta thank you also for praying

Wow that's crazy.. Idk if that stuff expires but maybe when you have some extra cash try and get a bucket to keep as a backup in case this ever happens again? I have a feeling he will feel better in the morning after some meds! |

Has he sen a vet? I had one with ulcers, treated him with paste meds- you can get them online fairly inexpensively- 2 doses and he was feeling better. Draw will also help with ulcers. You have to get his stomach feeling better. Mine would eat alfalfa but not grain. I enventually took all mine off grain. They get renew gold in a little soaked beet pulp for volume, alfalfa for protein, vitamin supplement. They do not have to have grain to get their nutrition needs met. Mine are also out grazing on 100 acres. Get him a bale of alfalfa and slowly introduce it to him so he is not hungry. Alfalfa will also soothe his stomach but will not cure the ulcers so get some meds too. Good luck.

Location: The best kept secret in TX | Thank you all so much for the prayers. This morning when I walked outside I started bawling... He was alert and nickered for me at this fence. I let him into his stall and he went straight to the hay. Not big bites. Not often. But he was alert and hungry.
I called the vet and He is sending me some paste today to work. He said if he gets any worse to call him and he will come out. But there isn't really anything else he thinks it could be. He said given the symptoms and his temperment in the video I sent him last night, He believes it is ulcers as well. He can't seem to grasp that he was only off 707 for a week and he is already hurting this bad. He said that doesn't sound normal and he is concerned.
I would love to be able to give him alfalfa. But he is alergic. Vet said to continue with the stomach soothers and beet pulp. He said to try Renew Gold and pull the pellets. He wouldn't suggest Alfalfa given Lee's history with alfalfa. So He pretty much told me to do what everyone suggested lol.
I'm not going to breathe just yet. I'll check him when I get home, but seeing those ears up and that sparkle in those big brown eyes made me cry and made me greatful.
God is good. All the time. Keep the prayers and suggestions coming. I'll try anything to help him.
Also, Probios paste or Full Bucket Probiotic paste? I gave him one tube of Fullbuckets probiotic last night but the label says two a day for 5 days.... $$$$ Pros and cons of both?
