Do they have to pay an entry fee?  And do they have to pay for their hotel and stalls, or is that all provided once you qualify?  Just curious.  I know they get something like $10K even if they don't earn a check and that comes off the top of their money if they do right?  Something like that.  Just wondering what the expenses are to get there and run and is it the same for all the events?  So many questions, inquiring minds want to know. . .

No, they don't pay entry fees. Entry fees are paid by Boyd Gaming in all events. And rooms are compted(SP) by different hotels there. Barrel Racers hotel is Golden Nugget. Each competitor is given a stall at the T&M, but many don't keep their horses there. Brenda kept her's at a friends place out by the South Point. Much quieter and not so hectic! Each contestant is given money when you get there, around $14,000 this year, it went up $500 each year Brenda went. They would deduct that amount from your final winnings, whatever that was, but if you didn't win an amount equal to or better than that, that's what you went home with. Starting in 2015, every contestant will get $10,000, with none deducted when you win more, it's a total bonus for getting there.

Thanks Martee! We raised Dora and from her 1st competition, she had the talent. Just took awhile to get her to this point. Being the backup to Jethro for several years was a good thing for her, she didn't have to have a lot of pressure early on. She was sure a blessing this year and helped a lot to take some of the hurt out of losing Jethro.

Do the back numbers have any significance?  How is it determine who gets each number?

I believe the #'s are assigned by the amount of money a competitor has coming into the finals, ie Trevor Brazil, #1, next highest money earner #2, and so on.

Β Thank you!!! I have always wondered those things! Do some people stay in their Rigs instead of the hotel?

You can park your outfit at the T&M for the duration, but you can't stay in it. Big trouble if you get caught trying to do that! Brenda parked hers at the place she kept her horses and the lady that worked on her horses with an acuscope and myopulse machine, took care of them, etc, stayed in it. Brenda got a room at the Grandview just down the road from there. They're like small furnished apartments, and have a pool, workout rooms, laundry, etc, so she could rest better, have her own food instead of always eating out, etc. Her Dad and I stayed in the room that was given to them at the Golden Nugget. Different people have different things they do. MGM furnishes suites to several of the bigger names like world champions, etc along with a food allowance each day. Brenda had a pickup and bumper pullshe used to go into the T&M each time instead of her big outfit.

Since Brenda never had to pay fees, have no idea what they are. As to tickets, a contestant gets one set of plaza seats, with the option to buy 8 more sets of plaza seats.
