Location: Where I am happiest | I have to say I have a whole new appreciation, and respect for Fallon Taylor. She is rockin those helmets! Diamonds and Dirt is donating $100 to k9s4kids for every contestant that wears a helmet during the NFR. Fallon has stepped to the plate and not only is she sporting a pretty cool helmet, she is matching the $100 each night and will do so for any other contestant who wears one. Now I see Troxel will donate 5 helmets to special needs kids charities for every contestant who wears a helmet. Isure wish the others would jump on board! I have to say, I think I want one of those helmets Fallon is sporting. They look pretty cool. It would not be fair to my husband and family, and all my animals who depend on me if I suffered a catastrophic brain injury beause of some old stigma and vanity. YOU GO FALLON!! |

| She had an interesting interview tonight on Flint's show talking about breaking the stigma associated with safety gear in general ... compared her helmet to the helmets that the bull riders wear and the vests that the rough stock guys sport .... I do like her super positive attitude and givin' it back to the couch jockies |

Location: Mountains of VA | FINALLY, we have a female barrel racer willing to endorse riding helmets!! I had hoped this would have happened long ago from Charmayne James or Martha Josey.
This has been long overdue..............professionaly barrel racer wearing/endorsing helmets. |

I agree and my husband said the same thing. I do like the design of those helmets Fallon is wearing. They look nice! |

Dolores O'Toole wore a helmet years ago at the NFR. I'm not a helmet wearer but Fallon is so popular with the younger crowd that she's doing a great job promoting them. |

There have actually been quite a few female barrel racers that wear them. And encourage others to |

| Although I don't wear a helment even though I should, you better believe my grandbaby will wear one every time he is on a horses back. |

| Yes, it's hard not to be a fan! She seems like a total kick in the pants to hang around, too. My daughter is crazy about her clothes. It's SO nice to have a genuine positive role model for young girls. |

I never wore a helmet before I had kids. But now, working in rehab I've seen too many ugly results of simple accident and we are all 'in the helmet club'. It's super cool of Fallon, and super cool to add money to it. Heck, for a good cause it would seem like a no brainer! (Haha...no pun intended) |

| I like Fallon and want her to win it all, but i hate when people push safety BS and even worse when they do it for money and attention. |

Location: Where I am happiest | I have learned through the years that catastrophic brain injuries are not limited to youth. Oregonrieners is a prime example of that, that hits close to home for alot of us here. Our familiers deserve to have us around and kids deserve to have their mothers. Our husbands deserve to have their wives. I was talking to Tonya Hebert last winter in Az. She wears a helmet. We started talking about the helmets and she said "I make my living with my brain. I cant afford to have a bad brain injury and really when you think about it, it's stupid not to". She is an attorney. |

Heck yeah! I also gaurantee you if the helmet companies started adding bonus moneys at the barrel races for those wearing helmets, ALOT more would be sporting them! |

Location: where the wind blows | This week Fallon Taylor is the first pro racer to wear a helmet at the NFR promoting safety. I thought good for you Fallon. Then tues night I suffered my first concussion at 49 falling of my green horse when she spooked. Thankfully it is a mild one, a headache and nausea and forcing me to miss a few days work and lay low. I really shouldn't even be on here. Anyway you can bet your booty as soon as I'm up and around and able to ride again I will be buying a helmet. I had actually commented on some negative FB posts about her helmets prior to my fall how I disagreed with them and admired her for stepping up and being a role model. Go Fallon and Baby Flo. I think she is great. |

Ouch! Hope you get to feeling better!
Minor point, but I believe Delores Toole ran in a helmet at the NFR a few years ago. |

Location: Texas | It has almost been a month since my last concussion. My life has been turned upside down. I can no longer take the risks that I did before. I'm selling off my best horses so someone else can compete on them. Fortunately, I have had someone with me 24/7. I've been making progress but feel like I'm stuck in a loop. I have a good day or two and then bad day or two or three. I have had trouble sleeping, terrible headaches, vision problems, balance problems, memory problems, speech problems, and have felt like I am in a fog.
I applaud Fallon for daring to be different, putting vanity aside, and wearing a helmet. Love that color coordination too. What a great example and role model. Hopefully many others follow suit. I have, and am very happy with my new Tipperary at the recommendation of other BBs. |
