| Getting back into barrel racing after a long break; however old age and a wore out shoulder means I can't lift saddles like I used to. After a lot of internet searching I'm not coming up with a very good selection of lightweight saddles to choose from. I'd ultimately like something under 20 lbs, lighter would be better. I'm leaning toward the Brazilian saddle, really don't know much about them and have never seen one but I sure like the sounds of 12-14 lbs! Recommendations welcomed! |

| I'm an older rider and love my Bob Marshall treeless saddle. Light weight and it's nice to ride in. Keeps you in the saddle. |

Location: Illinois | I just bought a CJ C11 saddle and it is super light. I would say it weighs 20lbs with all the crap on it. I would highly recommend one if you are not into the treeless saddles.

They list the weight as 27-30 lbs, too heavy but it is a beautiful saddle. |

| That's what's making my search confusing. I see some saddles with really short/small rounded skirts and think they must be lightweight, then the description says 28 lbs; then I look at one with big square skirts and it says 24 lbs. Granted the tree is going to make a big difference but sure makes internet shopping harder. I have a Cactus saddle, was told it was much lighter when I ordered it; however, it weighs in about 30 lbs and sits unused. Unfortunately I live in an area with no tack shops. |

| I have a Kay Young edition Master's saddle that seems really light, esp. compared to my Martin and Teskey's. |

Location: Bennett, CO | 2nd hand information, as I have no first hand knowlege... But I was told that few people ride the Brazillian saddles daily, but rather save them for competition runs.
Anyone care to elaborate or correct me? |

I wonder if it's because they are uncomfortable? I've heard that before |

| I do have a new Brazilian saddle that I bought few months ago
it is very light when you put it on it feels like the weight of a
pad, I have a shoulder issue and it was hard to throw a heavy
saddle, that being said it is amazingly comfortable, I did change
the stirrups to wider for myself. I hope that helps. |

I heard they are extremely comfortable. They just don't hold up to heavy riding like a quality leather saddle would... |

| The Lisa Lockhart saddle made by circle y are fairly light. I think i read somewhere they were 23lbs.
Remember that the weight is the bare saddle, cinch, back cinch, breast collar all contributes to the weight. |

I owned one of these years ago, I could kick myself to the street for selling it!!!! It was incredibly lightweight. |

| I know that my Pozzi pro is considerably lighter than my crown c was...but I also know crown c's are on the heavy end, so I'm not sure that means much |

I've seen some triple creeks with rounded or almost no skirts. You could talk with them about how much those weigh. I had one with the full skirts and it was pretty light compared to the RS it replaced |
