Location: Kansas | curious as well. I know a few people that use panels....but I would be worried about an injury if they were to kick the other horse through the panels |

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | Panels scare me. One of my mares hurt herself pretty bad last summer because she laid down close to one of the round pen panels and got a leg through getting up. It was ugly. My gelding kicked through a gate before I owned him and had to have surgery to fuse his hock.
My stalls are 3/4" plywood on 12' centers 4' up the walls, and then wire horse panels on top. I have 3 holes in the plywood where they kicked through it, but no injuries from it thus far. We did stall fronts in rough planed oak from a tree we cut building the driveway and that turned out really pretty. |

| I use panels because it is HOT here in Texas and they provide good air flow. Never had a problem. |

Location: Missouri | My stalls were already in my barn when we bought them. They are solid walls between horses with small openings so they can smell/see each other. The openings are maybe 2-3 inches made out of really thick almost rail road tie kind of boards. They then have the open fronts with sliding doors and metal bars on front. The size is about 12x14.
I really like them. We put down chat and mats this summer and now I absolutely love them! Super easy to hose down if needed and the horses don't chew on anything.
As far as calving pens go, I use welded pipe. We have a space of about 2 box stalls, 144x196, with chat that we can throw straw down on if needed. It has a full gate that swings so I can maneuver them easily and a huge sliding barn door, 12ft, on the far wall to allow them to go in or out or get locked up. The other space is about 12x14 and that also has welded pipe and chat. |

Location: MD | We have some stalls that are built in, some stalls that are box stalls, they are the priefert box stalls, the ones in the link.
http://www.priefert.com/products/premier-horse-stalls/premier-stall...
You can see through to the next horse in the box stalls, have the hay feeder attached to the front so you don't need to enter the stall. I like them but if given the choice when I get to build a barn of my own, I wont put those in. the sliding doors get stuck on everything hay, bedding, dust anything in those grooves and you can't get your door open. they are loud and squeal if not enough WD-40 on hand. and the doors are heavy. They look nice, and are good stalls, but I wouldn't CHOOSE them.
I love our built in stalls
ETA: sorry for the silly horse pic but I didn't really have anything that really showed the inside, but you can kind of see the size, we just measured they are 13x14

| Here are mine. I looked online quite a bit before building them and slightly stole Murphy's idea. So thanks, Murphy!
They aren't the fanciest, but look decent and very affordable. Three stalls and we have less than $250 in them.

Don't worry, I stole the idea from someone else! LOL! I think they look so good. They LOOK expensive but the conduit is cheap and looks darn good. |

Do your horses not pick those latches open? I have 3 houdinis who would make short work of those. LOL |

Lol. No, I guess I don't have any houdinis. The lumber has dried out some, so the latches are pretty tight. I don't know that one could manuever them open or not, but I haven't had any that have tried. |

Location: Driving, Grooming, or Saddling for a Kid! | Heres my old barn. 2" thick boards bolted into a perlin on both sides and cattle panel up top. The front of the stalls are panels with walk through gates that help with air flow for the hot Texas summer days.

I don't like panels for the same reason. |

| Murphy, I like your stalls! Instead of conduit, I used 1/2" PVC pipe and it worked well too. I too, am scared of panels. I've had horses hang up on them and they horses usually bend them all up. |

 Go For It!
Location: Texas | I have a shed row barn with 4, 12X12 stalls... I use the preifert panels, but the bottom rail is pretty high off the ground. The backs are 2"X12" pine boards with dutch doors. I love the panels...Lots of air flow, I can configure them into as large a stall as I like. Right now I have 2 horses and they get 12'X24' stalls. If I need to add a stall I just put my divider in. I've never had one get caught in them, knock on wood.
