Good question - I'd like to know too. Speaking of exercising I think I'll get on the floor and plank right now! I may only last a minute but you gotta start somewhere I guess! lol

Good question, I'm looking forward to seeing the responses.
I've gained 15 pounds since my brain injury last September and I finally feel like I can handle some mild exercise, so I'm excited to get started. I looked up "Booty Barre" workouts on YouTube, I think that's what I'm going to try first. They have the whole workout on there for free!
My doctor told me about it, I hadn't heard of it before.

Go For It!

I love pilates/yoga exercises and do them regularly. I think that you just have to do what works best for you. I do LOTS of core exercise and free weights as well. Jumping rope, walking, and a bit of running. I try to do some sprints a few times a week as well. Videos don't do much for me... although I have a ton of them, lol, I seldom, if ever, use them. Squats for legs and lots of stretching. I'm on a mission to stay fit as I get older and so I have a FB page that I started for me and a few other (experienced) ladies, so we can keep each other motivated. We have about 40 in our group and it helps SO MUCH. Maybe you could get some friends together and start something for yourself. It really helps!

Good luck!

While you are at it go ahead and plank 2 minutes for me.  I've got to start somewhere.

The 30 Day Shred is good... I was actually able to do that a few times, and I usually flunk out on day 2....;(

I found some DVDs called 10 Minute Solution, or something close to that! There are 5 10-minute segments so you can do however many you have time for, and you can set them up in the order you want. Basically it's aerobics, but there are different types like kick-boxing, Latin dance, hip-hop, etc.

I had been slacking, so I enrolled in our junior college's circuit training class to hold me accountable. And then I signed up for a 5K to give me a goal. I mostly run but will bike or do the elliptical to change things up. I follow that up with weight machines, core stengthening, and stretching.

For my birthday I got a Fitbit, and I really like seeing my activity level. I've only had it a little over a week, but it has definitely reminded me to stay active over the holidays when it's easy to be a bum.

I absolutely love "Blogilates"! I watch most of her workout videos on youtube and she works your whole body, but other videos you can more so target your core or legs like us riders need. She's a great motivator and a sweet gal. Best thing is, it's all free!!

When I started my get fit journey I started out with Jilian's DVD's ... they are good. They will make you sweat and ... you can jump around in them.  So there is always a beginner spot, then more advanced spots.  You can forward to some of the ab exercises and then go back to other things too.   I like how she motivates and encourages but is real about working for the results - I guess she worked for me!

Remember ya'll that it takes time to see results and effort in the kitchen to not sabatoge yourself!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!

I have tried the videos, working out at home, etc. The best advice I can give you is to get a personal trainer for a few weeks. Seriously, they will teach you ALL the right exercises in the correct form.

I was the "cardio queen" where I would jump on the treadmill for hours. Never had a change. I got a personal trainer and she taught me about WEIGHTS! It changed my life! I lost weight, inches, and SAW a huge change in my muscle and balance. After you learn a lot of the exercises and how to use the machines, you can cut loose on your own.

Fitnessblender. Different levels of cardio, weights, yoga and Pilates. Best thing, it's free, although you can buy a 4 or 8 week program and diet plan. Love!

I have used popsugar.com for about 2 years. I do 10 minutes of cardio, 10 minutes of yoga and alternate with a little weight training. You can find any kind of exercise on this site and they will lead you through it. I think I am in pretty good condition for a 59 year old woman thanks to this site.
