People either seem to love them or hate them.
They don't bother me but I would not specifically breed for one or buy one for the color.
I have owned 2 of them.  I still have one of mine, she's just a recipient mare for embryo transfers, and she raises really nice babies.
I've heard some people say that they sunburn but neither of mine ever had a problem with it.  And they were/are just pasture mares so are out 24/7 365 days a year.

I think they're super pretty and I'd totally get one. I would just probably keep a fly mask w/ a nose on them to keep from getting sunburned. I already have 2 pink nosed ponies (one w/ a blue eye) so what's one more? Lol.

LOVE THEM! And I want another one. Kind of hard to get when all I have are bay and sorrel mares BUT its a far off goal to own another one.

So is there any disadvantages of having one? Like do they need special care for the skin or anything?

The same disadvantages of any other pale-skinned horse, whether it is a paint or a horse with white facial markings and/or eye skin. Fly masks and sun block.

I don't think there are any true disadvantages, some people don't like them. My personal thoughts who cares what color the horse is if its fast? I have a cremello, she doesn't sunburn, I do keep a flymask on her, but she has a white blaze so needs to protect her nose just like any other horse with a white nose. In the summer she is turned out 24/7, doesn't sunburn (its a myth that their bodies sunburn). A lot of times people also forget the advantages of a cremello if they breed, they are 100% color producers no matter what they are bred to the only possible baby colors are Smokey Black, Buckskin or Palomino.

I don't particularly care for them, but I would own one, especially a breeding mare, because then I would get a palamino or buckskin out of them everytime (depending on what color the stud was).  But I really love palaminos!

Interesting that you should post this I just saw an add for a cremello horse the other day that said it couldn't be rode out side during the day because of its color and eyes it could not see in bright sun light. I had never heard of such a thing ....I take it there is no truth to that ?

I didn't use to like the color until I bought one....... He wears a mask with UV protection in the summer otherwise he is mr. squinty in the bright sunlight.  Just like any other color, some are built to be more eye appealing than others.....

For me I guess it depends on the horse. I used to think they were all ugly... then I saw some that looked beautiful. I have decided that some horses just don't look good in Cremello lol. I have always thought it was preference though, some people love their sorrels.. and I'm not a fan. That doesn't mean I won't or haven't owned one, I just may not think they are the prettiest thing ever.

It's my least favorite color. I just can't imagine keeping them clean.... I already have a hard enough time with my Palomino.

I never was a fan of them until I met this boy. He is an absolute sweetheart and I just fell in love instantly. I think because I like his build and his mane and tail are so long that it definitely helps lol. I would own more. He gets a fly mask all day every day and a fly sheet when the sun is really strong. His nose has burnt a tiny bit before but nothing else. He's easier than my paint horse I owned.

I wouldn't breed for one if I was planning to sell the foal, as it seems that a lot of people don't like them. However, I personally love them and am looking to buy another one :) I've never had one sunburn or have any color/skin-related health problems, and no hoof problems either (people will tell you that they burn easy or that they have to be shod- they may or may not need shoes, just like any horse, but mine didn't need shoes- in fact, the only horses I've ever had that needed shoes for hood quality were black-hoofed.
