| Please tell me what you have had the most luck with, for the cost. (Most bang for your buck)
If you don't mind stating where your getting it from.
Looking to put my horses that are being rode on an injectable for the season. |

First what is this horses job What are the goals of these supplements and what do you hope that they do to help your horse do its job ? Is there a fixed costs per month budgeted in caring for horse or is it a shotgun approach ? What is your vets opinion |

The vit b thing has nothing to do with this. Just want a joint supplement for my horses that I will be riding "hard" this year. Just gathering info. There is not a fixed cost per month. Just looking at all of my options. The goal of the joint supp is to support joint health and prevent issues.....??? |

Location: Here | Thanks for the additional info I just confused with all the different feed and supplement posts you have made that I wanted to answer correctly From what I understand pent isn't approved for pregnant mares but horses with inflammation it works good on I am still old school adequan weekly for 4 then ever 21 days Seen great results with it Love legend night before but all gets majorly expensive if you are trying trial and error |

Thank you. Yes, I am an over-analyzer. I go over and over and over everything. Especially what I'm feeding/ putting in their body. I am pretty sure I am my vets worst nightmare. I used Adequan last year and did not see OMG results but I was not riding the mare very much so... who actually knows how much good it did her. I have been hearing really good things about people who give Legend on Thurs night or Fri morning of a 3 day barrel race. I have considered that since I rarely go to them and the added protection would at least give me good piece of mind. I just acquired a OTT gelding that is at this moment sound without issues, and I really really like him so I am looking at all routes of keeping him that way. Therapeutic blankets, wraps, joint sups- ect. That's what has spiked my joint supp research at the moment.
The other mare is my girl that I have raised. My vet and I have been working on her for a little over a year going over her with a fine toothed comb to see why she wasn't turning the 1st barrel all the time. So far, we have confirmed she had ulcers (treated and on prevent/ maintenance now) and I put her on Lixotinic to help her come back from the complications from the uclers to make her feel better and get her appetite back but when I go to take her off of it she gets very sleepy and mopey. We have done test after test and finally (idk if it was last straw or what) but my vet said maybe she just requires more b-vits than other horses. We are all different, horses can be to. So, that's what I'm going off of. I'm not OMG-ing over the price, but trying to save where I can without risking quality. If that makes sense.

| I LOVE my Tight Joints Plus! I have watch it do amazing things with my horses. I have had people say that they use to have to inject and with the use of Tight Joints Plus they either no longer have to inject or have cut down the injections they are doing. I have never had one that needed to be injected but I have had two different horses on it that have done great. My one barrel mare had a lot of issues in the trailer and kept kicking. She had a lot of scar tissue and swelling that wouldn't go away. She never seems sore on it but it wouldn't go away. After I started her on the Tight Joints the swelling went away. I have been very happy with it. I am able to buy it in a local feed store but have bought it online before. It is a little less that $70 for a 2 month supply. |

Location: Here | This is coming from my personal experience, but iron can cause stomach irritation. So I dont like Lixotonic when. i have an ulcer prone horse. Again this is what I have seen in my own body and in my ulcer horses. I find if you heal the ulcers with gastroguard and then out them on forco and a good feed, life is good here |

My vet called my old man a 'train wreck' and after having him injected and chiro done (just thinking about that vet bill still makes me sick at my stomach). He then put my boy (he's 16 this year) on Pentosan. We went back about 3 or 4 months later and he said he was shocked at the recovery he'd made. Said if they ever let him participate in a commercial for the stuff he wanted my boy in it, hahaha. Anyhow, I've been using it ever since and he's run better in the last couple years than he has in a VERY long time. I swear by this stuff, and I now have my young horse on it too. I buy mine from my vet and its a 50mL bottle and its $180. Its a little higher, but I prefer to buy through my vet. Good luck!! |

| GLC5500 RX. It's proven to reduce the need for injections and lowers lameness scores. I use it and have not done injections in a year. |

Location: California | I voted early and voted Adequan monthly dose, but I always do the loading dose first. I currently have a younger horse, but used Adequan on my older horse before and could see the results with her. When I began really using my younger horse, I started her on the Adquan. It's really not that expensive if you buy it in the 7 pack (I buy from Allivet) and is FDA proven to work. |

Location: Texas | I'll be the odd one.. I don't use any of them.
I inject when needed, feed a balanced ration, turn out on good pasture, make sure their feet are shod properly, and I give an oral joint supplement because I get a killer discount being a vet student so it's worth the trial with it.
All of the horses we run are between 12-16. We run about 3 times a month (so thats about once a weekend with one weekend off). We do use previcox and/or bute depending on the horse starting a few days before the race.
I think maybe if I were trying to rodeo and was running 3-4 times a week I would be using adequan and legend in addition to it.
We end up usually injecting them twice a year, sometimes once. One horse was getting injected WAY too often because a vet misdiagnosed fibrotic myopathy as hock soreness...she really just has a choppy gait in the back end and she's not sore. |

Just because the FDA approves a drug, they do not approve that it will work. There are no guarantees. Just means your approved to use it and that vets are approved to prescribe it. I have seen far better results with pentosan gold. And the results are immediate and don't take weeks to become effective. My vet told me the adequan dose you give today is doing its job a month from now. My gelding is fusing in a LH hock. I do like adequAN so I load once a year with it and pentosan monthly. |

Loading dose is 6cc once a week for three weeks then 6cc once a month after that |
