Location: Oklahoma | To me it looks like she isn't running. I have way too much time to think when I am on her. This time last year, I didn't have near the time to think.
Does anyone see where I can make up the time?
I need about .3.

Location: NE Texas | First off, nice horse! Looks to me like she's rating way too early and way too much for the turn. I would try to free her up in her turn and would probaby do that by sending her across the pen to the fence. And I would probably spank her while doing it. She just looks like she's making a safety run to me. Have you been running her all winter or has she been on break and you're just brining her back? Reason I ask is because if she's been on vacation, it will take her a few runs to build up and restrenghten that fast twitch muscle fiber and get that quickness back. |

She's been running, but not like I was running her this summer. She is making maybe one run a week MAX where she was making 3-5 runs a week. She isn't in the same shape, but her recoery time is minimal so she isn't in bad shape, just not racehorse shape... The ground ther eis a little iffy, but there weren't many slips that day.
I kinda felt the same, she is making a run but not really putting it all out there. I am wondering if there is a pain issue, but she flexs fine. I had to up her bit because she has bee setting WAAAY too soon and I couldn't pick her up out of it with the O-ring she was in.
Thanks Herbie!
I have videos on my FB from summer runs to compare. https://www.facebook.com/#!/video.php?v=10202558513309672&set=vb.1401384436&type=3&theater |

Location: DUMPING CATS AND PIGS IN TEXAS :) | I can't watch Youtube video's, but my initial answer is lighten the load. Try shaving some hair off of her. Take any exta blingy things off of her saddle, bridle, etc. Don't wear earrings, etc....you get what I'm saying here. There was a movie with Alex Baldwin (help me out here folks), Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett. They needed planes to take off of a ship runway in WWII (I think) and they gutted them of any and everything not needed. Could shave a few milli seconds off....

Location: Sperry, OK | Brandy, I too see her shutting down way too soon, especially on the 1st. She stepped off the 3rd just a bit.. but other than that, not much to see. Nice mare! I have heard nothing but bad things about that ground.. maybe she just knew it was bad and made a run to protect herself. See what happens on your nexts runs at different arenas. |

I don't believe you should be. I think that would just prove that you wanted "it" more than anyone else :) |

She did the same at Mike's and the groud was terrible. I still love her!! At least she takes care of herself. Javi did a great job with her! I am excited I get to jockey her again this year. I am trying really hard not to make her look too horrible. LOL

m Yep. Scoped, treated, rescoped and got a clean bill. She was eat up with ulcers after her first year of rodeo hauling. I was running on Lasix as well, but she hasn't bled in a while. I may go back to that to see if there is a difference.
She does still get daily Ulcer and bleeder meds and the treated with ulcer guard for a month every 3 months.

That ground at Mike's was horrid! You just might have a dang good mare that knows how to protect herself! Just give it a little time and some good ground, I bet it turns around. |

 Am I really the Weirdo?
Location: Kansas | These are all nitpicky itty bitty things so don't think I hated the run - it looked nice. BUT, to get those last few tenths, she needs to really leave the barrels. It looked to me like she hesitated leaving 1st & 2nd and then hung up pretty bad behind third. There's MORE than 3/10ths on those little things. Not to mention it didn't look like she really hustled home.
That said, if the ground is iffy there, and you're on a seasoned veteran rodeo horse, odds are they are going to safety up and run a little slower. I can tell when my gray doesn't like the ground because he'll be in the 2D instead of near the top of the 1D. He'll just ease up a tad and take care of us, which is likely what your mare did in that run and the one at Mike's if the ground there was bad too. When I'm having one hesitate leaving a barrel, I'll do a rollback or two during their next warmup and get them to hustle out of it a few strides. Works like a charm on my gray horse. |
