| I gradually was switching my mare from sweet feed to Renew Gold. Once I finally (several weeks), started feeding just the RG, she stopped eating the feed. She gets a lot of brome and isn't being worked hard in the winter so she's okay but the sweet feed makes her way too hot, and I will want to grain when I start hauling in the Spring. Any thoughts?? I figure eventually she'll break down and eat it but what if she won't? This is the second horse I have had that just will NOT eat a pellet feed. |

Location: North Dakota | Well, I learned a long time ago, just because I think something is a great idea it doesn't always mean my horses will think it's great. I've also learned that the herd mentality is a great one if all animals in the herd are the same :) I have one odd ball and I live my life to serve him hahaha.
So for some serious advice: like the above poster commented, if you did like I do and switched everyone all at once-go back and start slower, feed at least half of your old ration with half of the new ration and then slowly decrease the old and increase the new.
REad your horses a little better.....mine WILL NOT eat pellets of any way shape or form-seriously, I've left them for over 2 weeks without any other option for grain and finally I kicked the dirt and went back to my whole grains (which goes to show they must be better)
I know for a fact no one will starve themselves to death, but they might come close haha! |

Wow, I thougt I had the only 2 that will not eat pellets! So much for spending $30 for ONE bag on this " fabulous" feed. Sheesh, I really can't go back to the sweet feed as she gets too hot, I honestly don't know what else to do. |

| Can you find some good alfalfa and switch out bagged feed altogether? I did that with my guys and they've never looked or performed better. Better acting and thinking too. My looky-lou barely keeps an eye on 'things' now. |

Location: Wisconsin | It took my two some time to happily switch, would you be happy to go cold turkey off of sugar? I know I would probably need to be committed. Try and add just a small handfull of the sweet feed into the renew for just a while longer. The one horse I switched was on sweet feed for a LONG time and he was my hardest switch. Now I have three on it and they love it. They clean it up everyday, but at first I was very frustrated and ready to give up. |

Location: bring on the heat, NV | What about just a handle full of plain oats mixed in? Less sugar than the sweet feed but still gives her some grain. Does she like slurpy mush? I had one that like water to make it mushy. |

Location: Florida.. | you can always buy DAC oil.. it smells like caramel or butterscotch... and horses love it and it adds bloom to them.. put it as a topping..

Location: In the Hills of Texas | I would add some sweet feed to it. Still much better having a small amount of sweet feed with the Renew Gold rather then a lot of sweet feed and no Renew Gold. |

| I just went through this with a mare who had only had sweet feed. When she got to our house we switched over do adm seniorglo. She ate a few bites was not impressed then went off her feed. I mixed in a little apple sauce then slowly weaned her off the apple sauce now she gobbles it right up |

Location: Pacific Northwest | I kind of have this problem with my one horse and beet pulp/alfalfa pellets. He'd been on dry cob his whole life and he's been on the beet pulp/alfalfa pellets over a year now and he DOES eat it, but he snorts at it first and moves things around like he's looking for grain. |

Location: Central Texas | I mix some alfalfa pellets and a bit of beef pulp (since they are used to bp) and wet it sown some. One mare loves it with apple cider vinergar. |

Location: Golden Gulf Coast of Texas | One of mine was a hold out so I just added alfalfa pellets and that did the trick for her. Not much only about a cup. She will still eat some of the RG then some hay and kinda switch back and forth but always licks it clean now! |
