Location: Kansas | Matt taped my runs at the New Year's Stampede and Saturday's jackpot on his Iphone 5 (my Saturday runs are on the "Great day at the barrel race - w/videos" thread.) I think the phone works well indoors because you don't need to zoom as much. We also use a Polaroid point & shoot camera to video runs, or Matt's mom will tape us on her nicer digital camera. I'm not sure what kind it is but it's awesome. |

Sony Handycam. They're about $200 and awesome.
I had one that recorded to a disk but it was a PIA to get it onto my computer.
Does yours have a SD card or memory stick? |

It has a slot for a micro SD card but I don't use it. It has a cord that attaches to the handle so I just plug it into the USB port on my computer and off load the runs. The internal storage is fairly large. |

This is also what I use. I really like that I can zoom in to get clear footage at each barrel and I don't have to worry about a charger , as I can just plug it in while I'm going down the road. |

If you actually want to see what you're doing during a run, and not just a blurry fuzz ball, invest in a hand held camcorder. I've used a Samsung HMX camera with luck, although you have to get it focused indoors before the run or it will take a minute for it to focus. I use my SD card in it, which I like better than anything since I can keep the original all in one place. I just upload when I get home all at once.
My sister just bought me another camera for Christmas. MUCH better quality of videos overall. It's a Sony HandyCam.
Invest in a real camcorder. Seriously. Phone and iPad videos SUCK. The quality is terrible and you can't see anything. With the videos on the camcorders, I can see my hands and feet and exactly what is happening. MUCH MUCH MUCH better. |

How do you avoid them going so blurry when shared or uploaded? They are great quality on the phone and when I upload them or post them or send them they are SOO blurry.
Eddited to add I LOVE LOVE LOVED my Flip video camera. SUPER easy to operate and download to my computer/upload anywhere. Great quality. Mine died but would definitely get another one. The program it comes with also makes editting super eaasy.

| I bought a Sony camcorder from the Sony Store several years ago. It was on sale at Christmas. It was a great investment. Takes professional quality videos. Here is one. I am just not a professional operator!!! It uses an SD card.

Location: NC | I made this video with clips I took with a digital SLR camera that has a video option. I bought it new in 2007. The thing was OLD and outdated but you can see how much the quality far outweighs that of iphone or iPad videos. And these were indoors.

My handy cam will probably be my favorite. It's easy to use and the videos are pretty sharp, even indoors. |

Location: Feeding mosquitos, FL | Check your recording settings on the phones. Make sure they are set to the highest quality you can. We use phones exclusively and get great videos. Big, high quality, great focus. I watched my run from Saturday and found out I picked up two hands then slid my inside hand down my rein going to the third and didn't even know it.
It also depends on how you transfer them off your phone. Make sure they don't get compressed in any way. If you have an Android phone, you can plug it straight in to your computer and transfer them that way without any compression. Iphones can be a little tricker because of the iTunes restrictions. I'm too lazy to fight with iTunes so I upload videos to Google Drive or Dropbox from my phone then download them to the computer for storage and obsessive viewing.

I have found if you email them to yourself over wifi then they will still be clear. If you try and text it they will be blurry. Sometimes when I try and email them but I am just on the phoens satelitte internet they will still come through a little blurry. |
