The only thing I've found to be successful is good fitting saddles and pads, a great chiropractor, massage therapy the day of the race, injections, and bute.

Why the sudden interest in sore horses and how to keep them comfortable? Have you changed your pills?

It's okay, I don't want you to bow down. You actually kind of crack me up when you get onto people. I just remember you being fairly harsh sometimes when people were asking why their horses were acting up, and others thought they might be sore, and you indicated that maybe the horse needed ridden harder. It's been a noticeable pattern, until lately.

Just was wondering what had changed. Have you seen Downton Abbey? There's a hilarious scene where someone asks the Dowager Countess if she's changed her pills because she said something surprising. That's all.

And really though, I don't know what horse tape is, and I see patches but don't know anyone that thinks they do much.

Different horses in my barn do respond to various treatments though, in different combinations, that I listed in my first post.

Alright, I just went back through my posts to see what Ive said lately about training and riding. The last time I gave any training type info was back in OCT...

This was a response to a lady that had a horse that would always break into a lope when she wanted to trot.

ITSME-

"Im no pro....

Lope him until he doesnt want to lope then lope him some more, turn it into a chore he no longer enjoys."

Even in my response I wrote im "no pro", and thats because I dont know jack about horses and I dont pretend to, thats why im on here. I get info from a few locals including a good lameness vet and a multi futurity winner/breeder/trainer and some info from here and weigh all my options.

Im not sure what tape you are talking about. But I am an avid AcuLife patch user. Yes they work!! If you want more info you can PM me. Michele McLeod used them at the NFR as well are Brady and Riley Minor. I can send you some info if you are interested.

And just wondering?? Why do people have to be so mean and ugly. If you dont like the question, then just dont answer! I just dont understand people!!

I am an AcuLife patch advocate! I have used them on horses with several different issues with great results.

I have had a horse, or two that it has taken a few tries to get their patching protocol just right in order to see optimal results, but I've never had one that I didn't see a benefit from using them.

I'm not sure on the tape, but I have used the AcuLife patches since they first came out. Yes they do work. And no my horses are not sore, anywhere so it's not 'covering up' soreness. They get chiro once a month and if they are running they get chiro after each run. Also get massage therapy once or twice a week, more if needed. I love the AcuLife and I have even used them on myself with great results. Takes a few uses for some horses to really show a difference though, so if you use them once and dont see major results, don't be surprised. Took one of my colts 3 patching sessions before she really relaxed to it. It's a new feeling, just like anything else.

Here is the deal 90% of barrel racers can NOT tell when their horse is off. Most people don't see lameness until the horse is 3 legged lame.

There are countless horses in the 2/3D that with vetting and management can be bad cats. The difference in the top 10% of barrel racers and the other 90% is they:
1.) notice the problem
2.) have the money and open mindedness to fix the problem
3.) are willing to try different things to see what will work

Barrel racing and training is all about problem solving to figure out what is going to work for you and your horse. When I'm at a show I watch EVERY single horse walking, trotting, and looping. I can tell you what leg he is off on and what I think is wrong. I may not be right but it's something my papaw taught me to do at the track and I do it all the time, its automatic. If a horse is not working usually its 3 things: Training, Pain, or both.

Its up to you as the rider to figure it out.

With all that being said most pain management that doesn't come form your vet is a holistic alternative thats primarily a gimmick.

I've used the human version on myself training for marathons. It was okay but proper stretching helped more and it was very expensive for something I think had more if a mental affect on me than actual physical help.

Dang thats alot of chiro. JW are you or someone in your family a chiro? I do believe that horses need it... Has helped multiple of my horses greatly!..
As to the original post--- I don't believe in these. If you think about the kinetics tape that is for humans and think how it would work on your own body, and how it would work on horses. It's a piece of tape touching your skin. No the tape cannot 'hold' muscle in place. Better off buying duct tape than spending that $$
