| A friend of mine was telling me about an article talking about which color different trainers prefer. His favorite answer was a trainer replied, Sorrel, I pick Sorrel. I have never seen any discipline that does not have a world champion with that color. I would like to read the article but I was hearing it recently and it sounds like he read it quite a while ago.
Does anyone recall this article? It was not in BHW or any of the Barrel Publications as he is a general horseman and gets some reining stuff and Americas Horse publications of that manner.

Location: N Texas | Sorry, can't help you, but one of my vets doesn't like gray horses, says they all have a little crazy in them. I of course know that's not true, it was just weird hearing that come out of a very knowledgeable person's mouth.
Of course there's going to be a sorrel horse that excels in every discipline, it's the most common color! |

I've heard that about grey horses too. I've had 4. Only one was slightly crazy. I've also heard paints were crazy. Never had one to know. |

| There was much more to the article that is just the part that I remembered that I thought others may remember as well.
Sorrel is the most common color so the odds are in their favor. |

When I bought my horse, a paint, the girl selling him told me some people were interested in him but wouldn't but him because he has a blue eye. They thought it was bad luck or something. Anyways, it's a good thing I bought a brown saddle, there's champions in every discipline with brown saddle! |

That said, I know at least three people that swear against palominos, and I probably won't ever own another grey. Like ever. So, you know, whatever works for ya!
Currently have a bay, a brown, a chestnut, and a sorrel. They're all just wonderful. |

Lol I'm with your vet. I know there's good grays out there but I've rode quite a few and I'm always happy to see them go home! |

Location: Montana | I don't know about the temperament of greys, but whenever I bet on them at the race track they always lose...so I pretty much never bet on a gray. I have a chestnut and a sorrel currently, but it seems like at the races I go to, more blacks or bays pull in checks. But maybe it is just because I notice them more. Personally, I love the looks of a palamino, and I hope to have one (or more) some day. I think Stingray attests to how good pallys are. My dad loves the looks of grays, but I've not been able to find one that works for me...I mean, in my price range, age range, training range, whatever. I'm not against trying one either. I actually don't think color has a whole lot to do with it, unless, like I say, I'm betting on them! LOL. |

They always say that at the track where I live!! Don't bet on the blue horse(gray) lol!! And I've always heard the ole saying paints with blue eyes are nuts or have mean streaks or super spooky. I have a paint at my barn no blue eyes and he's an a** hole, and a paint mare w/ two blues and she's an awesome trail riding, kids horse! My first horse was a dark sorrel very pretty. But I have always been very fond of bays. Finally got a pretty one 2 years ago:) |

My paint with 1 blue eye is the nicest horse in the world. Friendly and quiet as they can be. Plus he's pretty smart and obedient and very well trained. |

| I have a paint mare who is just an absolute B***H but I love her because she's such a solid riding horse. I have a gray who is just to die for in every way. I just sold my first (AND LAST) palomino.... UGH the headaches that mare caused me (;
I think I have had the whole slew of colors that shouldn't be trusted (except the blue eye, never had one of them!) |

Location: bring on the heat, NV | Sorry can't help with the article. Hubby is very superstitious about horses with blue eyes and cremellos/perlinos. I'm pretty open on colors/eyes. My favorites are whatever's in my corral lol. I've also won lots of money on grays at the track lol but I always bet on the best moving horse that fits that distances stereotype |

| I can tell you I'll never have another appaloosa. Every one I've swung a leg over had a major screw loose. I loved my paint mare, but she was solid sorrel. haha |

Red headed TB's are about the worse I have seen.
This makes my laugh pretty hard because I'm currently patterning a 5 year old OTTB out of NFR sire Red. She's super talented and built like a QH but she is a typical red head lol. She's definitely testing me. I have an appendix mare out of Red as well and she's not nearly as out there as the TB. A friend calls her the Fallon Taylor of my herd -- not afraid to be herself thats for sure! |

I find it funny how people think the color of a horse dicates what it can or can not do, or how crazy or stupid it is. Yep, hear it still, I own an Appaloosa. |

I pick horses at the track the same way...but if I bet on the grey, it loses 90% of the time. But at our local track, pretty much all we have are loser horses (literally, it will say on the racing form: non-winners of a race in 2014/2013, non-winners of two races, and the list goes on) as our track isn't very big on the grand scale of things, but it is sure fun to go! |
