| Who on here feeds turmeric to your horses or take it your selves? Have you noticed a difference when taking or feeding it? |

Location: Montana | My mom does, and she says she can tell a difference when she takes and when she doesn't. Mostly in her joints, but as you probably know, turmeric is used for inflammation. |

Location: North Dakota | I started feeding it almost a month ago. I haven't noticed a difference yet because I haven't really been riding. The supplement I want to switch my horse to has it in there anyway. |

| My mom takes it and it has pretty much replaced the Celebrex she was on for years. There is a VERY helpful group on Facebook called "Turmeric Users Group" with lots of info on using it for dogs/horses/people. The important thing that I have gotten from this group is that it must be taken with a pure firm of fat (coconut oil) and fresh ground black pepper to get the full effects, and this group claims that capsules are a poor way to take it... They have a recipe for a "golden paste" that contains the turmeric, coconut oil, and pepper, and then you just dose accordingly. I just learned about this group about a week ago, but I intend to give it a try... They also had an interesting article about using turmeric to treat ulcers! |

Location: MS | I read somewhere to take 500mg 4 times a day for arthritis. I've been doing this for a week and it has really helped. I have a knee that is bone on bone medially. I just joined the group. I'd definately be interested in giving it to my horses. |

| So, how does it taste? I was reading on how some people take it, and cooking an egg in coconut oil and sprinkling with turmeric and black pepper was one suggested way. Does anyone do this? |

| We just started feeding turmeric for inflammation for my son-n-laws roping horse. After running the things it takes care of might need to give it to the barrel horses of my daughters. Also might need to take my self.

| How do y'all feed it to horses? Buy pure turmeric in bulk? Or??? How much do you feed? Do the horses eat it readily? |

Although the smell is...strong to say the least, it doesn't taste like much of anything. I imagine the paste wouldn't be the most pleasant thing in the world but would be do able.

I bought a bulk supply from myspicesage.com, which was recommended by another bb. I mix it in with my horses feed/other supplements and add just enough water for everything to stick. He ate it like a champ right away. I did introduce it in gradual amounts though. I was told a heaping tablespoon a day is right for most horses. I just use my little silver lining herbs scooper. |
