I am temporarily borrowing a saddle until I can get one made for my mare. It fits great but the only problem is the fenders are slick not roughout. Is there anything I can do to help the slickness? My hunter/jumper sister suggested breeches... I think not LOL Any ideas would be great!

Blackrock, i have a slick seat i keep blackrock. There is some stuff that english people use to make them stick. I also,,would assume a beeswax would do,something simular with out harming leather. Also, maybe spray with water.

Considering that you are borrowing the saddle, I would check with the owner of it before putting any product on it or altering it in any way...

Check with the owner but the fenders being slick doesn't matter, its the jockeys that you grip.

No worries its half my saddle, I mean my sister and I used to share it when we did 4h showing. Now we are both too old and in different disciplines. She mainly does her hunter jumpers and said she may do a little showing here and there this year..... Its just been sitting in my dads garage for the past 3 years. So I guess I shouldn't say im borrowing it, im just temporarily using it

Personally I like my fenders slick - my pants don't ride up my legs that way. But I second black rock if that's really what you want.

Same here.  I'm not a fan of roughout fenders.
