| So my husband and I are wanting to get a group and go prairie dog hunting. But we are unsure of where to go. We've seen lots of places online but would like some recommendations from ppl who either have actually been or know the individuals. We don't want to take our family and the trip end up being a dud. Anyone have any suggestions?!

Location: oklahoma | There's a billion and one here but they're on federal/ city land. Tree hungers that run the city council would get ya. They tear so much land up and have even moved onto one of the local h.s. football field. Nasty vermin. Good luck on your hunt. |

Location: fun meter pegged OK | I would check Colorado. When I lived there, numerous hunts due to population control. They reproduce like bunnies!

Location: Kansas | i would say colorado too we have pastures over there that are overran with them. it seems like they are everywhere there
i would also reccomend something that isnt hunted a whole lot. They get smart and go down their holes if they see a vehicle or person if they are hunted frequently.

Location: Buffalo, Wyoming | Come to Northeast Wyoming! A friend of mines hubby took some hunters out last year. I will see if he is doing it again this year. They are EVERYWHERE out here. Have to be very careful where you ride as you could easily break a leg out in some of the pastures. |

I don't think there is much you can do with a Prairie Dog after you shoot it. A lot of the ranches out here have exterminators out to take care of them. The holes they make are a death sentance to cows and horses and humans if you are riding said horse when they hit prairie dog hole. |

| SD has fairly good hunting. In my area the plague has wiped out quite a few towns but they are starting to come back. Prairie dogs are not good for ranching! If you make a living off of grass you don't care much for the little varmints!

| My husband goes to Redbud Indian Reservation in South Dakota. PM for the name of their guide and I can refer you to him. They've gone 2 years, not terribly expensive, and they've never come close to running out of dogs to shoot. The towns they've shot at range from 50 yds to 500 yds, depending on how much fun you want to have! |

| my cousin used to work on a ranch out in western KS and they were covered up with prairie dogs. My brother and I went out one afternoon and shot I don't know how many but there were hundreds of them. They had exterminators come out there twice a year I believe, and there were still tons of them to shoot. |

I didn't know that either until my friend told me her husband was out with some paying customers. I about died laughing. The guy was from a big time gun manufacturer and he wanted to go prairie dog hunting. Paid some good money for it as well. |
