More fat and good gut health (maybe add Forco or a probiotic) are usually the keys to this. I don't know what your grooming schedule is either. Regular brushing and bathing helps some too.

once it warms up he gets a bath few times a week, and get groomed everyday especially now that he is shedding the winter fuzz. Just looking for other options cause there is so many things on the internet to try

More fat (try the rice bran mentioned above) and Forco. Watch him bloom.

bathing your horse a few times a week is actually goin to have a reverse effect....it takes out the natural oils in the coats and will make it dull looking...............imo

shiney coat comes from the inside out, my feed program is pretty simple, soaked beet pulp and whole oats and whole flax, i think lots of ppl get carried away with feeding things

I always wash any sweat off the coat before turning out. Especially on a dark horse. I am also a firm believer ina good curry. Some elbow grease does wonders

For a supplement-THE Muscle Mass, it alone will build muscle and put a shiny hair coat, but they do have a hair & coat blend that I used on my show horse last yr.

Renew Gold.  I brought one out of retirement who was only getting beet pulp, 2 months prior to the event I started him on RG, in the middle of summer he went from a bleached out black to a dark, slick coat.  Here is a short clip of one of my others- it is middle of summer also- he is 18 and looks pretty good.

Agree with above! THE Muscle mass makes them shine, and really look amazing

I feed Omega Horseshine and even with their winter coats I get asked how come they're so shiney at barrel races. One lady asked if I had them under a heat lamp. I LOVE it! Super cheap and it does a multitude of things. Plus it ships free.

Ground flax and alfalfa. Rinsing coats instead of washing. Nylon sheets.

Lots of good choices on here, I like Healthy Coat.

Edit to add: I just hose my horses off I never use any kind of shampoo on their body, now I do use shampoo on their manes and tails and condition real good, but I do them about every other month.

I like this supplement as well. I fed it to my mare during show seasons back when we showed Horsemanship and western pleasure. She loved it. Licked her tub clean!
