| This is going around on Facebook. Jeff Makovy has his horses at a trainers, they came down with strangles and were not taking to a vet. One had to be put down and the DTF is still alive but is in bad shape. Here is the link to the pics and full story. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10205434367434358&set=a.1852... |

| Awful, don't know how she can look at that and not be bothered enough to do something. Glad he is posting her name. |

Location: The edge of no where | I'm sure there is another side to the story, but I don't know what it could be. Why in the world a trainer would allow horses this sick to stay at their place with other high dollar horses there in training? If the owners choose not to treat, I'd have sent their horses HOME!
She is going to D&D and was at the Patriot, I'd make sure to disinfect stalls extremely well at D&D. I know strangles is always a concern while traveling, but I'd take extra precautions. |

Location: Kansas | judging just by the pictures....she'll be lucky if she ever has another outside horse come in for training. |

I can't imagine a side to her story for the horses to get in this condition. the owner is taking them to the vet now so not like he did not want to pay vet bills. I assume he is going off what she was telling him as to their condition.

Location: DUMPING CATS AND PIGS IN TEXAS :) | I would like to hear her side of the story too, because those pictures look horrible. I thought they had ran through a fence and had strangles.
I, also, wonder about their vaccination status, because that sure is an argument for everyone that says don't vaccinate.

| My horse came down with a case of the strangles last fall - Bastard strangles, so no nasal discharge. I caught it early and it was quite costly to treat. I had close to 10K in treatment over 3 weeks to get him right and then self quarantined for an additional almost 6 months (partly due to weather). I knew it could get bad so I treated - I also had the option to quit treating and euthanize. Horrible to let an animal suffer when it was a treatable condition. I also am pretty sure where I picked it up and will not be attending any shows at that facility in the near future. |

| The part that really gets me is that she told the owners nothing about the condition and that everything is FINE and doing GREAT. So, there. She LIED. What a crying shame, those were two nice horses. |

| awful - also she has been hauling we saw her at Andrews TX at jackpot and she was at the Patriot - If you have horses at home that are sick stay home and take care of them and don't expose EVERYONE else by hauling. I have no words for how I feel towards a trainer who does not take care of the animals we place in their care |

That's what gets me too. The owners would have been the first people I would have called. Not only for the safety of their horses but for the safety of the other horses in the barn. Strangles happen... even to people that take exceptional care, but how that women handled the situation(if it's true) is appalling! |

Exactly! Things happen, I understand. But open communication with the owner is priority! Whole thing sounds shady with the trainer if you ask me. |

Location: North Dakota | My guess is she had the horses a couple months, did nothing with them. put their training off, they got sick, and she didn't want to admit to the owner she did not ride them yet, until asked about a video and then she had to fess up and by that time the horses were too far gone.
I had a horse that came in for training and ended up with a really snotty nose so I sent him home. I told the owner I could haul him to the vet or he could to get him checked but until they found out what he had for sure I did not want him in my barn to possibly get anyone else sick (he was their only horse so there was no worry of him getting any of their other horses sick). Luckily it was just allergies and nothing serious.
