Location: texas | Soo I started watching Clinton Anderson videos on youtube and I thought to myself that only a pro could do his methods!(as if I wasn't good enough as a trainer to do it) but it turns out I went to the barn today and tried some of his methods on my 7 year old paint (that has the worst ground manners but rides like a dream) and his methods worked SOOOOOOOO well on him. such as personal space and back up and flexing:) Has anybody else actually tried his methods and had success? leave your success stories below:):):)
btw im only 15

| It's the basis of my entire training and colt starting program. I pock and xhoose from other techniques but always go back to that as my foundation cause it WORKS |

| His foundation program is my dirty secret if you want a horse o figure out how to properly use there body and have them think it was there idea it is an awsome program. If you don't cut corners it makes teaching a colt advanced movements a breeze (ex. True lead changes on a line) |

Location: Phoenix | I'm trying to do the round penning stuff with mine... I can get him to turn to the inside when we change directions about half of the time. It's a work in progress! He's very well mannered as it is so when I do these type of exercises it almost brings out the worst in him ha ha. I guess it just highlights our weak spots!

| It ABSOLUTELY works!! I have been using his method for training for the past 14 years. I use it on foals, young horses, to start colts, and to school older horses with bad habits. If you follow his method, which is pretty black and white IMO, without skipping steps, then you will see a huge difference in your horse!

| I raise a few babies every year and they lead before they are haltered, they stand for farrier, they are respectful and well started in all areas via CA methods. I would never miss one of his clinics but like the others, i pick and choose what works for my program. |

Location: Florida | LOVE LOVE LOVE Clinton Anderson. His methods are super easy to learn and it is AMAZING to watch your horse respond to them. Wish he was around when I was 15, he is a great foundation for you to use. I'd stick with it!! Especially now a days where you can easily follow along with a smart phone or ipad while working them!!
My horse was taught CA methods as a 8yr old, he's 14 now, whenever he starts being a butt, which is not too often, usually spring, when hes been off for the winter, I go back to the basics (ground work) and he picks it up like Ive been doing it every day, it obviously has made an impression on him... in fact I think he knows it better than I do, lol. |

Location: North Dakota | I LOVE Clinton's method!! Even if your not a "pro" at it the benefits and results are still amazing!! I just did 5 days of CA ground work before I even got on my horse for the first time this spring. It gets them safe and using the thinking side of their brain!!

| It is a user friendly, no nonsense training method. I use the basics and have started colts through his series. They just come out of it with a soft, well mannered mind and temperment. They know how and when to react. |

| I have followed him for years, and use his method on all of our horses, from babies to finished horses. Every horse we have or get in to train is started with his method. Love him, just wish he hadn't gotten to pushing his products so much. I remember when he wasn't constantly trying to 'sell' something on his show. But either way, I will continue to watch him and use his method. He's great!
Someone above mentioned Dan James......HUGE fan here, and have been using parts of his method as well....and he is the nicest guy in the world. Just love him!

Location: East Tennessee but who knows?! | Clinton Anderson is a great start. He's done a great job at making the natural horsemanship methods that started a long time before him easier to understand for the general public. For working and training I use a good bit of his premise but tweak it a lot too. I've learned more advanced stuff from John Nicely that spent a good bit of time with Ray Hunt, and Scott Kiger. They do ranch clinics here.
As far as breaking colts, I started out back in the early 90's with a guy named Marty Green who was still doing all the work on colts in his 60's. He was the one that taught me to get a horse broke to ride before you ever step up and to get them soft. I've learned to build on that with what I've learned from the ranch clinics.
There's a million different ways to teach a horse to do something. I think the most important thing in working horses and breaking colts is to keep an open mind, always.
