Anyone use one of these reins? How do you like them? - Ed Wright leather reins
- Martin mohair blend reins with knots (the white ones with the leather knots)
- Martin leather reins with blood twist knots
- Shallow Creek laced leather reins
I love leather reins with good weight, but I wonder if some type of knotted reins would be more helpful with my hand placement since I have a tendency not to slide my hand down the rein enough to help on the backside of the turn.

| I have a pair of the Martin Mohair Reins with Leather Knots and I really like them. I don't run it them, but that's all I ride in at home. They are nice and soft in your hands, but the leather knots are easy to find. They do stretch some until they are good and broke in. |

They do look like they'd be soft and I wondered about stretching. Can I ask what you run in? |

Location: Phoenix | Β Ed wright reins are buttery soft, love them.
I do like the plain reins from Martin as well. Β They are heavier while the Ed Wrights are more loosey goosey.

I run in the Weaver braided nylon reins with knots. The only reason I do this is because I have them set at exactly the length I like to run in, so I just leave them there and take them off at home |

| I have about 5 pairs of the Ed Wright reins. I really like them for roping and running barrels. They fit my hand just right. |

Best reins you will ever put your hands on! The dirtier and sweatier they get, the softer and more useable they are. I don't think I can go back to anything else. |

I have these also and love them for riding around. I prefer my Ed Wright reins for running. They have a good feel and fit nicely in my hand without being bulky. |

Location: Aubrey, Texas | I received a pair of Howard Finley reins for Christmas one year. Best gift ever! I have them set short to run in and use a longer leather roping rein to just ride in. |

| I have a pair of the white Martin reins with the leather knots. I love them but they do have a stretch to them. Otherwise they have a really good feel and weight IMO. |

I have a pair of these! and a pair of Ed wrights. These took some breaking in. they were a bit stiff at first and I was used to nylon and my ed wright reins. but I do like them. |

Location: Back in MT BABY!!! | If you like leather reins I would stay with them. have you tried putting a piece of duct tape on them where your hand needs to be? I have seen some people do this...with all the colors they offer now it's easy to see your spot and the tape will feel different so you should be able to feel if you have it if you don't want to look for your spot...just an idea. |
