Location: Cocoa, Florida | I've tried a few things and didn't see a huge difference, stuff I've paid over $100 for a months supply. It's for a 12 year old gelding who has been known to bleed, runs on 2-3cc lasix, I notice sometimes when I ride at home (our arena is dusty) he will cough when we first start, so I'm assuming allergies.
Looking for something to enhance breathing and clear lungs from possible allergens

Location: Oklahoma | I went and had my gelding scoped after a run (he coughs when warming up and only then). Not a bleeder, but had some inflammation. Vet told me it was probably allergies and gave me some Dex. Give it 2-2.5hrs out before I run and his cough was gone. I went ahead and did the allergy testing and will start those shots in a few weeks. Hope it stops his cough, but if it doesn't stop the cough I will look into oxy-gen!
I have had sucess with THE, but I didn't find that their allergy additive helped him out. Not knocking the product, I just might have just diluted it too much with three other additives in his Muscle Mass. |

Location: Idahome | I have used the Nolasix from Silver Lining in the past for one that I suspected was bleeding. Never bled out or had him scoped, but he did improve once I started on it. |

Location: Sunny So Cal | THE Pulmon-EZ. With most horses that bleed they need time off to allow the capillaries to heal. Was the last time he bled less than 8 weeks ago? If not then unfortunately I don't think any product will work. Bleeders are tricky. Good luck with whatever you choose!! |

| For allergies I was using Tri-Hist daily. I also got a product called Super Wind that I used for daily riding to help open up the airways. Then for runs I also used Lasix. Mine got pneumonia and several months after getting over the infection the regimen that we had been using was not helping. My vet recommended using dex, so I ended up pulling her off of the Tri-Hist and using the Dex for runs. She felt great with that, running the best she had with no coughing after a run. |

Location: Cocoa, Florida | I spent a ton of $ on the oxygen products and didn't see a difference. I had him scoped a couple years ago after a bleed just to confirm and check other things out. I won't run him without lasix, as I've tried other "preventatives" and they did not work. I'm just looking for something to help clear the lungs allergies since the dust and dander is bad right now.
Can you give dex and lasix? I don't want to over do it if I don't have to. |

I had one bleed out twice after I purchased him (previous owner honestly didn't know he was a bleeder) so I started him on Nolasix and so far he hasn't bled out. I know there is some chance he could still be bleeding but not bleeding out, however he is running sooo much better (went from the top of 4D to the 2D) that I am convinced the Nolasix is working for him. |

Location: Peach State | Why is vitamin k recommended. I know it's a coagulant but wouldn't they run the risk of pulmonary embolism?, then there's albuterol that dilates the airway but can raise blood pressure (bursting more capillaries) or lasix which also has a ton of negitive side
Effects. It just seems like a very tricky balancing act :( I believe I have a bleeder since he "roars" kinda sounds like an expiratory wheeze, he's bleed out twice and after talking with the vet were just trying albuterol for now, I'm not sure which treatment road to take. Not to mention this horse is 18 so he may just got into retirement. |

^^^^ I second this!!! I put my mare on this after she came back from a couple months off first run on it was after a week of taking it. We ran a 19.0 without me pushing her. Came back and ran a 18.3 two weeks later on the same pattern. She will always have it until I decide to stop running her and breed her. |

Location: Cocoa, Florida | I'm kind of interested in the THE products since a lot have recommended them and I've tried the OXYGEN before, I want something to help manage it, I won't take him off lasix, I give a very small dose anyway, and he's on a strict diet and fitness program as well. |

Location: Sunnyland Florida | I have one horse that was recently scoped, etc. and she is not a bleeder but has 'airway obstruction' due to allergies. The vets recommended wetting her hay and feed. I don't Soak the hay, just Wet it so it retains the nutrients. Also, they said to keep her stall wet down to eliminate dust, and don't ride in dusty pens. These changes are working, and the price is good, LOL!

I have plenty of PulmonEZ on hand since it is one of the more popular products. It also has a 45 day guarantee. I highly recommend to anyone that wants it for a bleeder to make sure their horse has seen a vet and is all cleared to ride and then put them on the PulmonEZ. I have customers have stopped using Lasix all together and some that use minimal dosage now. I haven't had a bleeder to my knowledge, heck I never get to haul enough to find out. But I do use it regularly when we are in a drought and I have one that has that dry cough at the beginning of the ride. I'm guessing allergies and the dry hay and dust blowing around is the cause, but it did stop the cough. |
