For anybody that has made thier own patience pole I need some ideas. I like the tether bar that the clinton anderson version has. Surely I can build this thing for less than the purchase price.

4" pipe
trailer axle hub
weld hub to top of pipe and attach your lead to hub
cement pipe in ground however tall you want it.
I typically put rail ties around base level with ground so that they can't paw

We just took a 4" pipe, encased in cement in ground. Welded 4 beads at top of pole about 12" down. Slid car rim over top of pipe, then welded another couple of spots on top of pipe so rim couldnt come off and then tied a leadrope to the rim.

Metal pole, hub bearing, drill hole in a pipe to go over one of the studs and cement in ground. Go to your auto shop and when they replace a wheel bearing get then to give the old one. I am replacing one friday it is just starting to go bad will last a long time on the top of the pole.
