| I can't imagine adding this layer of knowing it was deliberate to the already unbearable grief of losing your loved one. The pilot left the cockpit to go to the restroom. The co-pilot locked him out, they have audio of the pilot banging on the door trying to get back in, co-pilot does not say a word but they can hear him breathing and plane was manually put into descent. Audio prior to pilot leaving the cockpit was normal conversation. 150 people were killed.

Agree my husband flies every week this hurts my heart and scares me as well. Not only could they hear the pilot trying to get back in but the passengers. It's bad enough to kill ones self but to have a motive to take a whole plane it's hard to comprehend....but we see this more and more for whatever reason.... |

| I know. This breaks pieces of my heart every time I hear it. I pray for peace for the families involved in this, for the loss of siblings, children, husbands, wives, grandchildren, neighbors, friends... it's so heart wrenching.
I pray that they find strength in the unity of the loss... I can't imagine hearing that it was deliberate helps them find any measure of peace. I would be so angry =( |

With all the stuff going on in EVERYONES country, especially in Europe... I would defintely be skeptical. However, it's just sad to think, if the pilot had not gotten up to go the restroom, it could probably have been prevented or may have never even happened. |

In the U.S., it's required for someone else to be in the cockpit (like a flight attendant) so at least two people are in there when one of the pilots leave. Procedure was put in place aftre 9/11. I bet that is something put in place overnight in Europe now. |

True, per a previous conversation with him about ISIS, it sounds like they are trying to be ready for them. It's hard in European countries where not every Joe Blow can carry a gun. I think he said you can have one if it is locked up and separate from any ammo also locked up. I imagine a permit is enforced as well. This is a cut/paste from him and something we were discussing on the news previously
The Turkish and the Kurds have a feud since almost 100 years now. And the turkish been sitting and watching the ISIS destroying this city of Kobane. The Kurds have it back since some weeks. We don´t have a problem now with the ISIS and if they come they will have a hard live here |

We don´t have a problem now with the ISIS and if they come they will have a hard live here I've been hearing and reading about so many 'civil war' like rise ups in countries... all this civil unrest is ripe for terrorist to insert themselves in places of power. This incident should open our eyes. Personally, I think the cockpits should have a hand/finger print scan to get in. or something along those lines. And that all flights should have an uncover military/police for personnel trained to fly in emergencies with cleared access to the cockpit should it be needed, and he should definitely be armed. I know you cant prevent all the crazies.. But still. It would probably cost a fortune.. though lives are priceless. =/
Sometimes I wonder at will ALL The technology that we have, why haven't we developed a way for humans to at least attempt parachuting to safety in plane situations like this??? I would rather take my chances with parachute than a crash landing plane if at all possible. I'm sure theres a million reasons why they haven't, but where theres a will theres a way.

I'm surprised no one took an ax to the door, although I don't know how long it takes to descend 8 miles either...............
So for eight miles they all had to think about dying.
Horrible. |

| In 1973, I landed in Houston, after living in Saudi Arabia. I kissed the ground and decided that flying just was not safe and I would never get on another plane. I haven't. It would have to be a life threatening emergency for me to even think about getting on another plane.
This has been going on for a long time and most of you are too young to remember other crashes that were questionable.
I teach school and my heart bleeds for the young people whose lives were just beginning and for the many others on board. |

Yes that's what I heard also.........and yes apparently the locking system on this plane was only good for 5 min but the copilot pushed the override button........lord so sad. |
