| Need some opinions please... My 3 year old filly had a really bad lung infection when she was about 8 months old. Every year since when the weather starts to change she'll cough some. This year I'm riding her and just starting to haul her some (to do exhibitions) and the cough is a little worse than it was when she was just out in the pasture. No mucus in her nose or phlegm when she coughs. But, it's not just when she's warming up either like I've had other horses do in the past. Supplement ideas? Vet? I've tried antibiotics (TMS) but it didn't do anything for the cough. |

| Manna Pro chicken crumbles. I think I ordered mine from Jeffers. Get to RED bag. They are not medicated. Feed a fist full once or twice a day. Works great. |

| Same here. My good horse had same thing as yours as a baby. When it gets dusty or he eats a little dusty hay he coughs. So I manage with an herbal feed through and then use ventiplman when he runs. I had scope done as well. |

| Dealing with the same thing right now. I have an appointment with the vet on Thursday for hocks so we're going to discuss this again as well.
He'll cough a few times warming up, appear to clear his throat, and then he's fine. And he doesn't cough every time. Vet said allergies last summer when the problem started so we've been working through a variety of supplements - currently trying to get him to eat Muscle Mass with an allergy/breather blend but he's being a turd about it. I will say that it seems like when he eats it, he doesn't cough, so really we just need to get the big red jerk to eat it on the regular.
I've been giving him Air Power before runs or riding in the indoor when it hasn't been watered and that seems to help as well.
I'm interested to see what course the vet wants to take later this week. |

Location: Where the pavement ends and the West begins Utah | Recoup ,bio- hesper. C/k and good dose of prebiotic/probiotic. Recoup strengthen the the lungs. Bio-hesperC/K builds the anti bodies and prebiotic/probiotic remove bad gut bugs and replenish the good.If used at the same time and for a period of 3 months you should see excellent result.

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | After a scope and vet check, I would do THE PulmonEZ. You can also have cough/breather added to THE Muscle Mass or Performance Formula. Depending on the severity, she may need the full strength of the PulmonEZ. |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | I have a gelding that has a cough this time of the year had him scoped didnt find anything, thinking hes got Allergy's so I give him allergy meds for a few months and it clears up. |

Location: where the snow is flying | Read up on hay steamers....the Hay Gain has lots of research on its website. All hay has mold spores in it; some years are worse than others depending on the weather conditions when it was put up. My hay looked really good, but have you ever stuck your face down in and smelled your hay? Looks can be deceiving. My gelding had a nagging cough. None of the other horses eating the same hay had a cough. Started steaming hay=no more coughing. (and they love it too) The steam kills the mold spores. Just soaking hay in water only wakes the spores up more....think of it like having a water/mold problem in your home. More water doesn't help it.. The key is steaming the hay to a temperature that kills the spores (min of 80 degrees celsius). There is also some evidence to suggest it can help bleeders too. |

Location: Florida.. | Coughing usually is allergies this time of year but a horse that had a major lung infection in the past could have scar tissue or worse so if I were her Id have him scoped just to be sure.. that stuff gets worse over time .. the otehr stuff is great if horse had no past history. |

| sometimes the dust from the hay or just junk in the air can make little blisters on the back of the throat- usually happens around spring for me anyway and I had a vet tell me ( crazy I know) but it works every time mine starts that coughing 25cc frenchs mustard 5 days in a row and then I do it about once a month until winter- it works |

I have an 8 y/o gelding that will cough like that - he has had several rounds of antibiotcs orally and 2 via IM this year and he would still cough
I put him on Tri-Hist and wet his feed/hay and I try to keep very little shavings in his stall - I basically tried to element any dust
He will cough maybe 1-2 times when being ridden when he first warms up but after that he is fine |

Location: Stuck in a cubicle having tropical thoughts | Silver Lining Herbs - Immune and Respiratory both help. I always make sure to get the herbs that include Garlic and Echinacea. I think their training mix or maintenance might have those ingredients. I only feed one silver lining product at a time and I try to rotate them.
I also wet the feed and make it soupy to eliminate any dust. If you can wet the hay that will help.
I've had issues feeding allergy meds like Tri-Hist. Made mine turn into flaming idiots.

Uckhele has a new product they were showing me at Congress for Lungs. I have tried it, but it looks like a decent product.
