Of the two - 5 Star all the way. I have used both and prefer the 5star by a lot.

5 Star.  Much softer and more dense.  Feels like it's made out of better materials, which I think it is.  I also LOVE the way the pad is contoured on the topline, works awesome for my high withered horse.  It just fits the natural curve of the back and won't pull down on the withers.

I have both and I use the Bayou with a saddle that maybe doesn't fit a horse QUITE as well because it's stiffer and almost keeps the saddle off the back, if you know what I mean.  Kind of provides more protection because it's stiffer.

I don't even look at other pads anymore. I tried 5 Star 5 years ago and haven't been back to anything else since. I love the pads. Quality that lasts for sure.

The Best Ever Kush Saddle Pads are really nice! Very comparable to the 5 Star Pads. I've had one for about a year and ride with it daily. It is still in great shape. It hasn't lost any of it's thickness which is what they're advertised to do.
