| I need a location. I need to know where in Texas would there be plenty of tall cottonwoods, high grass, many large ranches and the only town around is tiny. This place also would need to seem like a good location for filming a western.
Thanks in advance. |

| Sounds more like Wyoming to me! Sorry, I know, NOT helpful. Dunno where that would be in Texas, haven't observed many cottonwoods down here. |

Location: Gainesville, TX | Check out Channing north of Amarillo or Boys Ranch. They are right on the Canadian river valley, tons of mesas, and tons of cottonwoods. The whole valley turns gold every fall. The old west town of Tascosa used to be there and the old courthouse is still standing.
ETA: Channing only has a population of like 300 people.

Any kind of tall tree with thick winding branches would work. We have cottonwoods in AZ so I thought they'd be there too. |

Location: East Texas | If you want tall grass and tall trees you need to be east of IH35... many large ranches in one area will be west of IH35 due to cheaper land cost.... small towns everywhere, but definitely more population In the eastern 1/2 of the state |

Location: Bandera, TX | Ft Davis is my vote as well. If you need some contacts for shooting film give me a PM. Friends have fair sized ranch 55K plus and it backs up to Conservation land. Lots of Elk on the very diverse land. |

Thank you. This info I need is actually just for a romance novel I'm working on. Since Amazon shows my fan base is largely in Texas, I'd like to have one revolve somewhat about your state. |

Location: Texas | If you changed your trees to live oaks, which can also have lots of twisting branches, you'd have a much bigger area to go from. Just google live oaks and check out the images. |

I'm not too far from Channing myself. Riden, look up XIT Ranch and you can get some more information about the area.

My dad and mom worked out at Boys Ranch for years. My dad grew up in Vega. |

| I'm definitely torn between Channing and Ft. Davis. I found a Café in Channing, Cowgirl Café. Sounds interesting and the food looks great on their facebook page. One of the things I love most about the fun I get to have, is the research. Thanks again. |

Caddo Lake is enchanting and one of my favorite places on earth. Don't forget about the Old Stage Coach Road. Now that is western. You better love pine trees though. The old store at Jonesville , that town is about as small as you can get. It has been used in several movies. The Long Hot Summer is one movie filmed there. |

Location: Heart of Texas | What your describing is Galisteo New Mexico. Many films have been filmed there. Cottonwoods. River. Mesas. Some mountainous terrain. VERY westerny. Out in the middle of nowhere. If your wanting to represent Texas. Well that's hard. West texas is dry and brown. East texas is known as hill country. |
