I have a lovely 3 year old ( offically hits 3 in June ) Just curious how everyone's are filling out.

Mine is a quarter, but he does have some paint in the background on his dams side. I'm starting to wonder if he's ever going to  " fill out " like a average quarter. lol His butt used to be the biggest part, now I feel like his front end is the beast end. And trust me, we do lots of backing.

Katielovestbs - 2015-04-06 2:15 PM Beautiful horse!! I think he will fill out great =] Mine is all paint...and probably won't be a thick girl. She's kind of petite...we can dream though haha

Thank you! He's a looker for sure.  thinks he's the biggest thing out there ... until a pigeon smacks into the side of the indoor... then you would think he was small enough they could fly away with him! booger moves fast too. I'm pretty excited about him! Boy he used to give me such a rough time as a yearling and then his terrible twos.  I was just curious how the other youngins' are comin along. He eats like 3 horses instead of one! Took me forever to get him to fill out this good!

No she still has a way to go. She's also only 14.3. Some people give theirs growth hormone. Some have more halter breeding or Hancock that can add some mass too. Heavy and regular exercise (like on the track) can also muscle one up pretty good too. My girl is filling out at a healthy rate just on a good diet. Everything there is good breeding and good nutrition. She gets ridden reasonably regularly too but I'm careful about her joints. The only injection she gets right now is Adequan for joint maintenance; banamine if she's sick. I know she's going to be awesome when she's five and I'm really excited about her getting there.

Mines about  15.1 hands right now I think. Was the last time I measure. mine gets green grass, free choice hay and feed twice a day. He's dad was a pretty big beast and his mom was a beautiful though dainty thing. lol so I guess I'll see by time he's 5 or 6 where the poker chips landed

Some mature later than others.  When my colt was three he was big - but his mind needed to catch up.  He is seven now but here is what he looked like at 3 - he was just about 15 hands.

wow. he's like the opposite of bug in this picture. Is it like an odd growth spurt, like when they're all over the place as yearlings?  he's handsome!

Thank you.  He really went up and down till he was about 5 and then he just kept filling out.  And he is big.  I have not measured him height wise for the last year and a half because I don't want to know how tall he is but he's all of 15.3 the last time I measured him.  And it took his mind a good while to catch up to his body.  Some days he still reverts but I am determined to get him really going on the barrels this year.  He lopes a nice pattern - just need to add the gas and see how he handles it.  I'll see if I can find a recent photo of him.  Edited to say this was taken last month - my new flank cinch almost didn't fit.  :)

My three year old filly is about 16 hands. She is pretty thick but not much butt. She has been at the trainer since Jan 17 and riding her has filled her butt out. Will try to get the video off Facebook but it is doubtful.

She looks great!

I guess she will come home for the summer then back to the trainer. I really don't know what she has planned. Her sister is headed to another trainer to get broke the first of May. I seem to big into promoting these trainers----laughing.

Mine will be 3 in June as well, and I don't have any real current pics of him as he is at the trainer, but here are a few we took probably a month and a half ago. He is kind of filling out, but he keeps shooting up taller. He's a lanky sun of a gun, I've upped his feed and instead of getting less ribby (i.e. fat) he just gets taller I swear, LOL. I would surmise he is currently 14.3 to 15.0 hands, but he is butt high so I think his front end will catch up with his back end.

ETA: Please don't mind my outfit in those pictures, it was extremely muddy out. :)
