| WASHINGTON — A white police officer has been charged with murder, the mayor of North Charleston, S.C., said Tuesday, after a video surfaced showing him shooting and killing an apparently unarmed black man in the back while he ran away.
The officer, Michael T. Slager, had said he feared for his life because the man took his stun gun in a scuffle after a traffic stop on Saturday. A video, however, shows the officer firing eight times as the man fled. The state charges were announced in a news conference Tuesday evening.
The shooting in North Charleston comes on the heels of high-profile incidents of police officers using lethal force in New York, Cleveland, Ferguson, Mo., and elsewhere around the country. The deaths have sparked a national debate over whether police are too quick to use force, particularly in cases involving black men. |

Location: Kansas | I saw this story on FOX this morning. The man had been in the Coast Guard at one time and did have a warrant out for not paying child support. Shooting this man in the back was despicable. I saw his brother and mother interviewed. They were very decent people who were totally devastated. His broken-hearted brother said most police officers were good people but not all of them......obvioiusly. The officer was charged with murder. |

Location: Bastrop, Texas | The country is full of deepening divisions between groups. White versus Black. White versus Hispanic. Men vs women. Straight vs gay. "Haves" vs "have-nots". Religious vs secular. Public sector vs private sector. Law enforcement vs certain "communities". Climate change proponents, versus climate change skeptics. Democrat vs Republican. Liberal vs conservative vs libertarian.
People no longer trust government. More and more people are preparing for a "re-set", whether it is due to war or financial collapse, or even something secondary to a terrorist act. Survivalism is on the rise.
All these "incidents", such as this man's apparent murder, are slowly contributing to what we are seeing......and what is that? Chaos. |

Location: Broxton, Ga | What I don't understand is why does a 50 yr old run from the law geez for child support warrant.....and why a cop thinks he has to kill him literally gunning him down. Now we have a dead father of 4 leaving a girlfriend and a wife 8 months pregnant with no husband or a father for their unborn child.
Sadly 2 wrongs don't make a right......
And yes I question would this be as big of a media event if the victim was white as well as the cop.
In the end it should not be about color but another human killed another wrongfully. |

| What i dont understand is why was it legal up to a couple years ago to stop and frisk someone for no reason at all in NY? Why do cops harass law abiding citizens and trample our constitution then get support from their union and the sheeple? |

| They are going to make this about color and I can't really blame them. However, this isn't about color. That cop would have shot anyone running away because we are becoming a society focused on control. Each special interest group wants control over the other and if you don't see something the way the "crowd" wants you to... its elimination time. This cop is a disgrace and a manifistation of the times we're in as a society.

Location: Kansas | The man who took the video has stepped forth. I picture myself not focusing on taking the video but yelling at the cop to please stop shooting. The spectre is horrifying and the video-taker was also a black man. Who knows, maybe he was afraid the officer would shoot him too. |
