I'll be getting a new mare in october, bred, & I'm trying to figure out who I should breed her to after she foals next year. This will be my first time breeding to an outside stud & there are so many nice studs out there that I'm having a hard time deciding. The stud fee has to be $1500 or lower. I would like yalls opinion on who you think she would cross well with. Here's her pedigree http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/some+kinda+of+fine . I'll try to put a pic of her on here, she's around 15hh, stocky. I don't mind a shorter horse so the size of the stud isn't an issue. Thanks :) Here's her pic http://www.sundancebarrelhorses.com/publishImages/Broodmares~~eleme...

Nonstop Firewater $1000 or Firewater Finale $1000 would be my choices.

You are clear on your budget and don't mind short, but what do you want your horse to do, just barrels or all around. Do you ever want to rope? Do you want one that's going to be quiet enough on trails? Some studs throw hotter horses that can sure lay down a pattern but can be tougher as a quiet riding horse. Do you have an preference as to color? Do you intend to sale or keep? Rodeo or futurity (where a fast maturer may be better)? Do you care about incentive funds?

Well the foal will mainly be a barrel horse, but I make sure my horses can ride around as well. I don't rope, but I make sure my horses are good with them. I don't care about color, a good horse is a good horse lol I'm also good with hot horses so that's not a big concern for me. I intend to keep this first foal, I plan on taking it on the pro circuit eventually, it wouldn't just be a "weekend warrior" type horse. Incentive's would be a plus but that's not a deal breaker.

Looking at the picture of your mare I would like to see her crossed on something with more bone. It's a little out of your price range, but I would go with Shawnee Bug Leo. He is really siring some nice horses. I got to meet him this last fall and was VERY impressed with him as an individual.

Frenchman's Bogie!  I just dropped my mare off yesterday.  His fee is great, he's Future Fortunes, and throws a lot of bone and good minds.  His owner is a really nice guy, easy to deal with.
