STICKING WITH THE PLAN... Let me begin by saying that there is more than one way to "skin a cat" or so the saying goes. When you are on a mission to get some help with your horses, make sure you go through this list...

1. Get QUALITY help and check references.
2. Ride their horses, make sure you like the way their horses feel and ride.
3. Someone doesn't have to be a big name trainer to be a good teacher.
4. You will get A LOT of advice from friends in general, but you have to stick to ONE plan and give it time to work.
5. If someone is giving you instruction it has to make sense. If they can't tell you why you need to do something then you may need to reevaluate your coach.
6. There is no replacement for a good coach, no matter what level you are at, Michael Jordan, Nolan Ryan, Babe Ruth, Secretariat, Sea Biscuit... They all had coaches. A good coach will bring out the best in you and cheer you on. A win for you is a win for them.

It can be confusing for us and our horses when we get help from too many people. Not because one way is right and the other is wrong, but because we need to have a plan for our horses that is consistent for them. Horses are creatures of habit and when we keep changing things up, they become confused and frustrated. We can actually create more problems then we fix. Always remember... Consistency is the key. Have a blessed day everyone!
