| I'm in desperate need of some advice! I can ride all day long and keep my hands nice, quiet, and soft. I'm pretty quiet running into my first, but after my first my hands go all over and it's not good. What are some tips for keeping quiet hands during a run? |

| Do an exhibition and slow it down to a controlled lope and ONLY think about your hands and their movements. Makes me think maybe you aren't balanced in your saddle coming out of first? Hold on to the horn for a couple strides coming out of the first then maybe if your body is balanced you won't be moving your hands to regain the balance |

Location: Peg-Leg Julia Grimm | You need to have a secure, quiet seat in the saddle to have quiet hands. So if your hands are all over the place, look at the rest of your body. If you are riding like a monkey humping a football you need to quit doing that. |

Humping a football!!!
Say to yourself smooth is faster, smooth is faster, and don't try too hard....as micheal jordan says let the game come to you. Meaning you sit up there quite and do your job, trust the horse to do his, if your up there star fishing your pony like a wild monkey you can't concentrate on helping him when he needs it. Just sit there and put him where he needs to be and help, you can't run the pattern for him.

EXCELLENTSUPERFANTASTIC BASIC BARREL MOVES TRAINING VIDEO
I did a quick "watch this" about this video ... this is a planned training session that is used over and over again as a training routine so horse will get familiar with the good basic barrel moves and make them habits because the rider had a consistent order of training and down to cooling a horse off and taking its mind off of running .. Take the time to jot down what moves the video contains and the order. The order sometimes is there so the horse can catch some air before moving on to a faster part of the session.
This is the best training video I have ever seen to teach a young horse or to refresh an old horse the correct basic moves needed in barrel racing. It also teaches the rider to ride with a training plan, focus, momentum and rhythm with no nagging or ragging on the horse for any minor mistakes. The next training session will correct a rider error or uncertain moves by the horse!!
Do not confuse the turnarounds while keeping the horses feet up under themselves and moving while using your momentum to leave in the correct lead.... this is NOT A ROLLBACK ...
Use a little more speed while teaching flying lead changes after the horse is side passing and holding their correct leads in circles and know what to do with your hands and feet simultaneously!!
HAVE FUN WITH THIS IN AN ARENA OR PASTURE RIDING .. AND NO NAGGING OR RAGGING ON THE HORSE ...
AND THANKS TO BECKY AMIO TRAINER AND LESLIE CO-OWNER OF MERRILL RANCH FOR SHARING THIS SUPER TRAINING VIDEO ... watch Becky intently .. she has quick sneaky hands and feet.. lol

| Once you have developed split rein habits using one rein hand movements you can move up to the Cervi method of lifting the inside rein and changing to riding with two hands between barrels to square up rider and horse before rating the barrels ... while riding quiet and deep in the saddle ..
