I want to order some kind of cooling / tightening gadget to use post-race. What do y'all recommend? I added a few that I'm looking at, but feel free to add your own! Not looking to spend a fortune ($500+)

If possible I like to hose their legs with cold water then spray bigeoil on them. Let them dry and a few hours later put Back on Track wraps on.

Hosing down with water is not enough. You need some kind of ice wraps to take out inflammation etc.

I bought some Ice Horse hock wraps and they are great, but... I can't get them to stay up! I put them on tightly as the directions say, but within 15 minutes they have fallen down. Not to hijack a thread, but any suggestions for keeping them up?

Either wrap the cannon bone with a no bow, or wrap the cannon bone in an ice boot/wrap then wrap the outside with a no bow to keep the hock wrap in the correct place

I really like the Ice Tight Poltice...when I rotate the cold and hot between Poltice and my BOT boots my horses legs have really shown improvement!

The mare I race has old ligament injuries from bad farrier job when she was a young'in (she's 10 now), so she gets her legs cold hosed, an absorbine liniment rinse, then we put green pack jelly on all 4 legs and wrap with professional choice quick wraps. She feels great afterwards, plus we put the absorbine gel liniment on her girth area/back/hips/hocks. She gets quite a bit to keep her feeling and running great.

Back in the '80's I had a really nice horse. I had read where Martha Josey said to hose each leg at least 10 minutes each after a run or hard workout
(and man was that boring!) Then use liniment and wrap for no more than 12 hours. I did that religiously for years. My horse never had a soundness problem, not even when I retired him at 25. I believe ice is the best way to go, but in South Texas summer heat, that isn't always possible at races. Back then there weren't many jackpots, everybody rodeoed, so most runs were evening/night runs..

I am in love with my ice vibes. My horses also love them! I have a full set plus hock boots... will add the knee boots before the season is up. I use them without the ice packs before I ride/run and with the ice after. Great product can't say enough good things about them.

Ok thank you! I haven't tried that becaise I was afraid of creating extra heat on his tendons after a workout but maybe if I put an ice wrap underneath it might work.

I  love to cold hose and use Sore No More.  My SO bought my some ice packs from KO trading a couple of years ago that you put on with standing wraps.  I haven't really hauled hard since he got them for me but I have used them on myself and really liked them.

We had race horses for many years and have ice boots made that have a strap that goes over their withers.  They are tighter around the ankle and go up passed the knee.  When I as in high school and went to multiple rodeos a weekend we would throw them on in the trailer and go on down the road.  We spent a fortune in ice but it was worth it.

I hose my horses legs, then I use the sore no more mud. It has been working great for her and keeps her legs tight even if she has to be in a concrete stall. ( which I put extra shavings and soft ride boots on
